On May 26, 1986 when Queen Margrethe's eldest son, Frederik turned eighteen, it was an all day celebration.

Thanks for the wonderful pictures of Queen Margrethe's life, Mandy! I really love the pic of her as a baby with her grandfather Christian X. It seems so tender and he looked quite aged at the time.

Frederik's 18th birthday must have been quite a big affair. I don't know whether I'd like all that attention on my 18th birthday.

There is a photo that really alarmed me. HM the Queen seems to have collapsed on a staircase outside. Her bouquet of flowers thrown before her and a gentleman and Prince Henrik rushing to her aide!!!

Was she out cold turkey? What happend?
