my best is: princess of Asturias and princess Màxima
worst: many amongst them: princess Caroline of Monaco

I would have liked MT's dress if it wasn't for that shawl? top? Cover up? I don't know what to call it and that brooch.

I tend to agree with you. I feel that the shawl and brooch were too large. I think that I would have liked it more if it had been smaller and more in proportion with MT's short stature.

the bride was beautiful.

Mary looked best in the daytime minus the hat.
MT has perhaps a thyroid problem but no matter what she wears I can not get over how fat she is.

in the evening paola, claire and mathilde were pretty, did not like what astrid was wearing at all.

Caroline was disappointing, do not like either outfits.

I can't get over how disgusting this statement was.

How the guest travel? do they take with them their own personal heairdresser and make up? or the wedding provide for them? they gad a day even and after a few hours a gala event, heair nd make up different and we can see the heair certenly it is not done by themselves, specially when is a tiara envolve, heairdressers must know how to do it with a tiara!

I know that many here have complained that some of the female guests have been wearing too short skirts, but I guess that many of the dresses have been ready-to-wear and not especially made for the ladies, they haven't been able to adjust the skirt lengths, as much of today's ready-to-wear dresses are short. I rather see a woman in a dress she wants to wear even if the hem is above the knee, than in a dress she's uncomfortable in and would rather not wear, but that has a "appropriate" length.

According to this article in Wort.lu there were hair dressers arranged for the guests: Wort.lu - Tom Marcineau Coiffeur der Braut

Wow I can't imagine how much this can cost! but of course money is not an issue in this case! I must say it i nice to arrive to a place go into your romm and have all this make up artist and heardressers comming to your room! now they must know how to handle a tiara with the up do!
thank you so much for the info! I guess in all this kind of events is like this!

Meraude, it seems to be a matter of mere inches which is at stake in these short dresses.
I make my peace that skirts may be a couple of inches above the knee, as that is the young fashion. However, when they are 3 1/2 or 4 inches above the knee, it begins to get dicey. Some of the youngsters with the Austrian contingent had very nice legs, but I wonder if that's reason to show them off so daringly. I would say 2 inches above the knee is enough. I know, silly subject. I am just an old lady, for whom a proper skirt hits middle of the knee or lower. Some of the young ladies had very nice presentations with middle of the knee skirts, including Stephanie, Claire Lademacher, Xenia whom Claire arrives with, and so forth. It seems the men really like the short skirts, though.
If hunting...

I think Tessy is definitely pregnant, she does have poor posture but still usually looks slim.

Alexandra looked lovely at the civil wedding, I actually liked her little suit. However her bridesmaids dress was terrible. Worst of the day.

Maxima had a beautiful outfit which was just let down by the eccentric hat.

I thought the Countess of Wessex wore a lovely outfit as did Princess Martha-Louise.

That is the cruelest thing I have ever seen on this forum. Were you a bully growing up or were you bullied and this is who you have become as a result? Either way, you don't strike me as a very nice person.

I still remember my teens when mini skirts (and hot pants) were in fashion, and for me those short skirts shown at the wedding are far longer than the ones I used to wear in the late 60ies. Then the fashion quickly changed and I went from wearing skirts that hardly covered my butt to dresses down to my ankles within a year.

Best Dressed was definitely Letizia then maybe M-M, but I gotta say the outfit Maxima chose was probably the worst I have ever seen, I don't know what she was thinking?? Sometimes, and this includes everyday people, I wonder if people have full length mirrors.:ROFLMAO: Maxima usually picks winners and looks great but this outfit was awful!!:bang:
IMHO, these were some of the worst dressed royals I have seen in a long time:ohmy:

Maxima looked fine, Leteiza looked lovely, Mette-Marit looked like she was attending a funeral, beautiful woman, horrible outfit. Caroline looked comical at both events. Sophie looked like she was going shopping, when someone asked her to come to the wedding, so she grabbed a hat. M-T is a beautiful woman. She is a plus size. At the gala she looked stunning, the wedding outfit was just the wrong color and style for body type. Mary Matilde and Victoria looked very nice.

I haven't said much about which sartorial splendors I liked, so here goes. I loved Letizia's dress for the religious ceremony. I loved Mary's dress for the religious ceremony; the hat was daring but worked. I didn't hate Alexandra's orange gown as much as some did, but it did look home-made, with seams that were not perfect--astonishing! I thought some of the men's suits were great, particularly those of Felix, Louis, and Sebastian--what great looking guys. The late Countess de Ligne's sister, escorted into the cathedral by GD Henri, was smashing, perhaps the best of all of them, and even carried off that platter hat without looking silly.

Don't you mean the comtesse de Lannoy's sister?

No one upstaged Countess Stephnaie it was her day

:whistling::flowers:I can safely say that no one dressed to out do the bride, all the ladies dressed beautiful no one was able to anticipate wether the weather would have rained or shine although a few of them could have travelled with appropriate attire in case the necessity had arisen.

The star of the day was Countess Stephanie. She wore that wedding dress with "such elegance". A Big COMPLEMENT to the designer, seamtresses, make up artist, hairdresser and all those who put Stephnie together.

I must mention that on two ocassions Stephnie embraced Grand Duchess Theresa, her body language told of her profound gratitude. I envisioned that Stephanie has found a new mother, who better can play this part other than GT?.

From the moment MT stepped out of the car with her son to the very end of the ceremony, this was one woman that was totally sending sunbeams out every time she looked at the bride and groom. Its very plain to see that mother and son have a profoundly deep relationship and I'm almost positive that Stephanie and MT will grow quite close also. It must really have supported Stephanie a lot to know her mother-in-law was there for her after losing her own mother just a short time ago.

I thought everything that MT wore for the wedding suited her. The vibrant color of the dress almost (but not quite) echoed the happiness that she just couldn't contain.

Caroline oustanding, perfect, exquisite. The rest is far behind.

I agree. It was very moving. Stephanie said last week that she has a new "Luxembourg maman" and we all saw that the last couple of days. MT seems to be acting as both surrogate mother and fairy godmother to her new daughter-in-law now. How beautiful, and what a relief for Guillaume that he will not be pulled between these two women he loves most, like his father was back in the day.

I wonder what Stephanie calls her new mother-in-law? She might not feel comfortable actually calling her maman out of loyalty to her own beloved, late mother Alix.

Im not crazy about Letizia's outfit. Yes she looked good and the color was great on her but I found the coat to be wearing her rather then her wearing the coat. It seemed a bit too big for her. She looks better in softer outfits, softer lace, softer fabrics.

best: Princess Tessy, CP Marie Chantal
worst: Countess of Wessex

Best dressed was most definitely Princess Letizia. The rich lace coat over her outfit was exquisitely chic and elegant whilst the combination of the peach and pale aubergine shades was strikingly unusual. A very lovely and refined look indeed.

I agree that Countess of Wessex lands on worst dressed list. Her overall was really nice but what was on with the print of her dress was just off. I was also disappointed that her outfit was too dark for a wedding.

Princess Tessy surprisingly was dressed really nicely. Though she could've gone for a different color and still look as good. Does anyone know who designed her dress?

Unfortunately Sophie, Countess of Wessex, got it completely wrong after a series of show stopper creations. This dress, from the gaudy black print to the design and fit was just too awful for words. Not a very flattering look at all.
