The palace of mmonaco issued a statement that the jewelry worn by princess charlene belongs to the historic house of grimaldi. What does this mean
Anything one wants to speculate:
1) a gift/wedding gift and therefore it belongs to the "historic house of Grimaldi"
2) belonged to Princess Grace or Princess Charlotte, now Prince Albert owns it.
3) Prince Albert purchased it himself.
4) that is just the answer that the press office came up with.
It could not mean:
1) Princess Charlene purchased it for herself
2) a suite of jewels on loan from a jeweler
3) borrowed from Princess Caroline or Princess Stephanie
When Prince Rainier married Grace, there were many pictures of their wedding gifts. This is not the custom today for royal marriages so the public does not really know what kind of gifts that Prince Albert and Princess Charlene received.
I remember seeing a photo of a pearl and ruby suite of jewels that Princess Grace received, designed by Cartier. Later, Princess Grace wore a very similar necklace in diamonds and pearls, also designed by Cartier. It seemed as if she exchanged her wedding gift. No one would have know this if there had not been published pictures of her many gifts of jewelry.
It seems as if the press office in Monaco is more discreet. I don't blame them. The press is all over the Grimaldis and their privacy is compromised all the time.
I really would like to know what jeweler designed it. The earrings are stunning.
