I'm sure they would love to publish the pics.
But there is the question of copyrights, if they lift a pic, especially of a well known person like Mary, from say Facebook without the original uploader's permission.
This is a picture that is worth money, while a picture that show a random guest from Boston is pretty worthless in Danish context.
Then there is the law on privacy.
As a guest at a private party Mary is protected by that law.
If there was no press invited for the party then it's private, period.
The excuse about "someone uploaded it on Facebook, and Facebook is public" won't convince a judge.
It's akin to BT stealing a picture from a photo-album.
After all Mary and the American ambassador isn't just anybody.
And then of course there is the little detail about the picture technically being taken on American territory.
And BT would like to present itself as a tabloid, but not a trashy tabloid...
- Plenty of "is it really worth it" considerations in regards to "circumnavigating" the law..
But let's see if the ambassadorial couple doesn't publish pictures themselves.
Thanks, Marye
