I have read so many name combinations here I feel a bit dizzy.

Because I love traditional names, I really like this thread. And because I love traditional names, I an rarely disappointed when I hear the name of the latest baby.

A few thoughts:

Will and Kate: I definitely think that if there next child is a girl we will see Alexandra. It was reported that they were keen on this name, and George's second name was Alexander, reportedly because they liked the name. So when we have the next round of guessing my money will be squarely on Alexandra for a girl.

I'm a little disappointed that so far in the recent crop of royal babies we have not seen any Charlottes or Adelaides. I love both of them and they are just there. I also like "Anne" - simple, regal and timeless and really underused. It would be nice if Zara named a daughter "Anne" or "Anne-something." Anne-Sophia - name of a British princess, daughter of Queen Anne who died young (Anne was such a tragic childbearer, to say the least).

So Anne-Sophia Elizabeth for Zara and Mike's baby (unless of course a boy ). I can see Philip for a boy, both after DoE and the Phillips family.

Stephanie and Guillaume; her late mother was named Alix. Love that name too, and suitable for a royal child. Princess Alix. I think we can count on a first daughter having this in her string of names. Perhaps Alix-Marie or Marie-Alix.

Albert and Charlene; Felicia Grace was suggested. I like that.

Victoria and Daniel; if they have a son - Carl-Daniel

I really hoped for a Princess Charlotte Alexandra Rose for William and Catherine's baby, however he disappointed me in being a boy! (I jest - I am not disappointed, he is cute.) I think their next child, if it is a girl, will be Charlotte. Maybe the next one will have Sophie has a godmother (as I doubt George will now) and she would Charlotte Sophie Rose (Charlotte covers both sides of the family as Pippa's middle name is Charlotte and Sophie and Rose flow well with the name.)

I LOVE the choice of Edmund for Daniel and Victoria's next possible baby. What a fine name! I like the sound of Carl-Edmund as well. Edmund is nice and very traditional AND it's not Edward which is such a common Royal name.

What is the reason behind the idea to give so many names?

From what I understand, so many names were given to honor grandfathers, great-grandfathers, granduncles, etc. if the child was a son. If the child was a daughter, then the grandmothers, great-grandmothers, etc. are honored. For example, Queen Elizabeth II is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary. Her "Alexandra" is for her great-grandmother, Queen Alexandra, wife of Edward VII.

Charlotte Sophie Rose sounds very pretty indeed! I also hope that either Adelaide or Sophia and perhaps Eleanor will make an appearance in a future Princess of Cambridge's name combinations. I've always thought that Sophia is a very beautiful and elegant name. If I ever have a little girl, it would be one of my top choices (along with Catharina, Isla, Scarlett and Victoria).

As for Victoria and Daniel, they are not expecting as far as we know but i can't refrain myself from make a name bid.

For a girl i would love the name Carla to honour the King. Victoria loves her father and he has been trough very difficult times during recent years so i think that would make him proud. And Carla and Carl has the same name day in Sweden. Obviously there will be names from Daniels family and i think they will use Hedvig and Vera, the names of Daniels sisters daughters. And Victoria will definitely use Lilian as they were extremly close so i'd say Carla Hedvig Vera Lilian

For a boy i hope they will use Carl Johan. To honour the King, his uncle and the first Bernadotte King Carl XIV Johan whose history Victoria is very proud of. I imagine that Daniel wants to give his son his own name. And i'd say Louis after Princess Märtha-Louise. Victoria and Märtha Louise have always been like sisters and i strongly belive that she is going to be a godmother if Victoria have a 2:nd child . My bid is Carl Johan Daniel Louis
