My faves would have to be the following:

1) Queen Maud of Norway
2) Princess Victoria of Hesse-Darmstadt (later Princess Louis of Battenberg and after the name change Marchioness of Milford Haven)
3) Princess Margaretha of Sweden (later Princess Axel of Denmark)
4) Crown Princess Margareta of Sweden
5) Queen Alexandra of England
6) Empress Elizabeth of Austria "Sissi"
7) Maharani Chimnabai of Baroda (India)
8) Queen Marie of Romania (a colorful character)

Definitly Queen Alexandra of GB for being so ladylike even though her husband was romping with other women.

Oh, and also King George VI , for taking over the kingdom when his brother so painfully abdicated.

Was she the Grandmother of HM King Peter?

That is correct. He was the son of Princess Marie "Mignon" of Romania (later Queen Consort of Yugoslavia), second daughter of Queen Marie.

I'm so glad someone had the courage to mention the Duke and Duchess of Windsor in this category! They're among my favorite, too, in addition to Diana, Princess of Wales, of course. The Duke and Duchess had an enduring love and unfortunately, at the time that was a terrible sin! Today they'd be welcomed like Charles and Camilla are, but then it was scandalous! My life partner, psychic/medium Kenny Kingston, was psychic to the Duke and Duchess (mainy the Duchess) and he has some incredible memories of them and their love for one another.

Queen Ingrid brought such elegance and sophistication to Denmark. She certainly left a lovely legacy in her three daughters as well!!!

I also like: Queen Mary of Scotland ("Mary Queen of Scots"), King Hussein of Jordan for all his peace efforts, Prince Claus of the Netherlands for supporting his wife and working so diligently to gain the respect and affection of the Dutch people, and I really think the four Grand Duchesses of Russia were a stunning (and tragic) group.

His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

1918- Nov 2, 2004

Using skilful negotiation, he brought together seven separate emirates, formally founding the United Arab Emirates on 2 December 1972. This is universally acknowledged as Sheikh Zayed's most significant achievement.

Sheikh Zayed built housing facilities, schools, and hospitals for his people. He constructed an airport, a sea port, roads, and a bridge to link Abu Dhabi to the mainland. He transformed Abu Dhabi into a green emirate with irrigation and the planting of hundreds of thousands of trees.

It was an exceptional achievement for a man who had no formal education and had lived the nomadic life of a Bedouin for much of his life.

Today, this advanced and elegant city is a fitting monument to Sheikh Zayed's legacy.
