I'm not sure about it, but it's possible that the renounciation is linked to his morganatic marriage, since he renounced his rights and married eight months later; and if we consider that all his siblings married royals, it's rather probable that he has been forced to renounce in order to marry his first wife Adelheid.

Yes because this marriage was not accepted. The relations to the Family where also bad and he was not invited to Family Events for a long time. I have a group picture taken on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Duke Philipp Albrecht and there all children and grandchildren are on it with the exception of Ludwig and his Family. He was invited again for the 70th birthday of Duke Carl in 2006.

Don't know about the relations with his sibling but there are photos with them at the birthday celebrations. See pages 3 and 4 of this thread.

Thanks Stefan! Since he attended, I can guess he is no longer such in bad terms with them; maybe the problems were more with his father then with his siblings.

Coukld be but as far as i know he has not attended other Events before like the Weddings of Duke Carl's children.

The duchess looks more flamboyant each year

. I like this tradition, I thought they usually included the grand children too (at least the children of duke Friedrich), but they did not seem to attend this time. It must be a boring affair for them of course. Who attends the reception? Just the staff of the duke and their partners?

I appreciate the word 'flamboyant' to describe Herzogin Diane; it is kind and captures something of her style. I fear, however, that the shoes worn on this occasion put her over the top, at least in my opinion. The outfit went from being 'flamboyant' (in the photos of her upper body) to 'unfortunate' (in the full body pictures) in one fell swoop!

Oh, well. She is a creative spirit, and therefore likely to make interesting choices. One thing is for certain: she is never dull.

The grand´children have attended sometimes but not in the last 2 years. last year there where fewer Family members inbited. As for the guests as far as i know they invit people from the Area such as Majors, the members of the Parliaments of this area etc. .

It seems the event was recorded by television (as some pictures show a camera(man).

It were the inhabitants of Altshausen and dancing and performing where people from local Unions. There was also a Programm recently on the local SWR TV where Duchess Diane, Duke Carl and the former Prime Minister Lothar Späth wo is a friend of the Family looked back on the Life of the Duchess with many short Movies. In the nest days there will e another Documentary shown where the accompanied the Duchess on her myn trip for her foundations.

Gosh, the Duchess doesn´t look 70! By far the best looking of her children is Eberhard. Has he got a significant other? Can´t believe he´s not married.

Last Saturday there was a reception at the former Alte Remise of Altshausen Castle which was renovated and reopened as Gallery with the artworks of Duchess Diane on the occasion of her 70th birthday on month earlier. I was there and took some photos of the Family and the guests.

On April 1st, Duchess Diana has allowed a photosession in her
house "Flor de Liz" on the Spanish island Mallorca.

Some of the shots are really nice, others are maybe a bit unusual.

Duchess Diane received the insignia of the Legion d'Honeur at Hotel Bristol in PAris. Apart from members of the Wurttemberg family, the ceremony was also attended by former president Valery Giscard d'Estaing and by Bernadette Chirac, wife of former president Jacques Chirac.
