RIP HM Queen Elizabeth II
My Condolence to The Familiy

Prince Harry has been seen, by reporters, leaving Balmoral … with just his security.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand was woken up during the night to be informed.

She said that when a security officer walked into her room she immediately knew what it was.

Queen II special humor to be remembered: As a former bodyguard recalled, the Queen once met tourists while walking near her Scottish castle Balmoral. The Americans asked her if she lived in the area and knew the queen. The Queen then pointed to the bodyguard and replied, "No, but him." The two tourists insisted on taking a picture with the man - and asked the queen to press the shutter button on the camera. She did as she was told without batting an eyelid.

On her way to Balmoral Castle, the Queen once spotted a small shop by the side of the road and curiously entered. The saleswoman looked at her in disbelief: "You look extremely like the Queen." Elizabeth II replied, "Oh, how reassuring!"

At one of her famous garden parties, the Queen struck up a conversation with a young woman. During the conversation, the cell phone of the young woman rang, which visibly embarrassed her. But the Queen with a smile said to her : "Pick up the phone, it could be someone important."

Elizabeth always got on well with her mother. But it is a well-known fact that rows happen even in the best of families. And so the following dialogue between the Queen and her mother once was reported: "Who do you think you are anyway", Queen Mum asked. Queen Elizabeth II, very relaxed and confident, replied to her: "The Queen, Mom, the Queen."

On the other hand, modesty distinguished the Queen, as the Royal Librarian Sir Own Morshead once reported. A long time ago, she ordered books about Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe and said: "I wonder what it's like to be the most famous woman in the world."

Late Queen Elisabeth II and her outstanding personality will be greatly missed for sure.

Isn't it a bit odd? It will certainly take a bit of getting used to since for many this will be the first time in centuries that England does not have a Queen.

England hasn't had a Queen for over 300 years.

Weren’t the news saying that William, Andrew, Edward and Sophie arrived at 5:05? To me that is evening so I think they were too late :(

Unfortunately I think they were too late. We've been told that the Prime Minister was informed at 4:30pm, and they wouldn't have told her before they'd told the family.

It must have all been quite quick - which is a blessing for the person who's gone, but difficult for loved ones.

no. it seems like only Charles and Anne and Camilla were able to get there in time... she must have gone downhill very fast. But it seems like it was quick and painless.

Has there been a time since James I/VI when the monarch didn't die in England?

I read somewhere that she was the first to die in Scotland since James. It is actually quite appropriate given that her mother was Scottish. Next to of course being the queen of the UK and many other realms, so any location in one of the realms would have been fine (and even abroad would not be problematic but complicate things a bit more).

Apparently today is considered day 0 for planning purposes and the funeral is supposed to take place on day 10, so that would be on Monday September 19.

The Royal Family will be in mourning until 7 days after the funeral.

If the funeral if on the 19th that will mean that many heads of state will have to someone to represent them because that is right at the start if the High Level Week at the UNGA. It has been confirmed that Biden, Macron and Ardern are all slated to be at the UNGA on the 19th for example. And the UNGA is not something they can just NOT show up to.

Her Majesty’s coffin has been placed in the ballroom at Balmoral and the staff there will have an opportunity to pay their respects over the next couple of days.

Given that this UN meetings takes a week. Wouldn't it be possible for those who wish the attend the funeral to arrive on Monday night - it is indeed is scheduled for Monday?

Had they not declared today as day 0 they might have moved the funeral up one day to Saturday (as I don't think they would do one on Sunday) but in this case it seems less likely.

No. Biden is set to be at the UN from September 18 to 20. Macron and Ardern for example are apparently making a presentation I think the 17th. In addition there are 100s of meetings/events scheduled. 193 world leaders are expected. Plus this is the first the UNGA will be held in person since the pandemic. These schedules have been set. Biden can't just decide to show up a day late to the UN for example. Biden will most likely send the first lady in his place. The King of Jordan is set for the UN. Prince Albert as well. Queen Rania is speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative where the Clintons are set to be. It will be interesting to see what, if any, head of state can go to a funeral on the 19th.

Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi has paid his tribute on instagram following the death of Her Majesty The Queen. He mentioned about the joy and privilege that Christopher and Sienna spend with the Queen during summer.

Incredibly hard to process the last 24 hours. What an incredible woman and extraordinary mark she’s left on the entire world. She was the rock on which modern Britain was built.

Feeling very lucky that our little ones got to spend wonderful time with her this summer. Rest is Peace Your Majesty. We will miss you so much. Brokenhearted ?

If so, they have to decide what their priorities are. Very few of them will have planned to attend the full week. Most will normally attend for a few days, so in this case, they'll have to decide for themselves. There is no obligation to attend the funeral of a head of state of a foreign country. I would expect the prime ministers of the queen's realms to prioritize her funeral over an international gathering that is taking place each year.

Fortunately, giving a presentation on Saturday the 17th is compatible with attending a funeral on Monday the 19th.

I definitely expect the Dutch royals. Prinsjesdag takes place on the third Tuesday of September each year, so while some years Máxima left right after Prinsjesdag to attend this meeting (she attends each year in her position as Special Convoy), they can most likely adjust their schedule for Monday to be able to attend (and if Willem-Alexander is still not allowed to fly, they can take the train). I would expect princess Beatrix to join them as well.

When I reflected that Nordic Heads of State are due to attend Queen Margrethe II Golden Jubilee, I checked on English Wikipedia to verify the name of the current President of Iceland and I saw that his wife Eliza Reid is Canadian (so, in fact, a subject to the British Monarch) and that they met and fell in love while studying in the United Kingdom.

May she represent her husband at the funeral, if he couldn't come?

I can't believe that Joe Biden and Jacinta Ardern will miss the funeral. Charles and Camilla changed their wedding date so as to avoid clashing with Pope John Paul II's funeral. Surely something can be arranged at the UN to avoid a clash.
