Ooh! So harsh! (But, technically we are not 'upside down'.) Anyway, I hope she keeps this recent wardrobe (sans those awful, awful shoes) when she returns to Sweden. The dresses and skirts will not (obviously) be practical for a Scandinavian winter, but you know what I mean. :) Today we should see her wear 'warmer' clothes; it's freezing and wet here.

She received lotsa flowers and a travel rug from the group.

I agree that Victoria has most certainly found her style. She looks wonderful in some of the new clothes she brought along with her. I should say clothes from Swedish designers, it is great that she is exhibiting the work of her country to others. I would think that would be part of her job description.

Anyways, the only qualm I seem to have with her ensemble, scratch that, not the only but one of two, first one, "Change the shoes, please" and the second, do something about the hair besides just pulling it back and tying it. Now that we have seen a change in her apparel, I would love to seem some long overdue change in her hairstyle. If she is pressed for time, she could simply wear it open or put in a chignon. Something, anything besides that atrocious, "killing-me", "feel like chopping it up and putting it in a soup and feeding her" ponytail. (I am glad I took that out, feel much better now:))

Some photos from polfoto. I really like the dress she is wearing. She seems to like purple's, but who could blame her. ;) The little girl is adorable.

Sydney hosts another princess
March 17, 2005

First it was Mary and Frederick, then Charles. Now another royal has stopped by - and all in less than a month!

Crown Princess Victoria visited Circular Quay yesterday as part of a national tour to enhance cultural and business links between Sweden and Australia.

The Scandinavian royal was dressed in a knee-length, yellow silk dress, loosely belted by a waist chain adorned with silver love hearts, with her hair was swept into a pony tail.

The princess, who was greeted by the NSW Premier Bob Carr, is in Australia as patron of a month-long celebration dubbed Swedish Sytle in Australia.

Her three days of public engagements in Sydney will include a traditional Swedish smorgasbord, lunch with Governor-General Michael Jeffery and a visit to the Electrolux Design Centre.

Swedish Style in Australia, is an initiative by the Embassy of Sweden to Australia, in cooperation with the Swedish business community.

It aims to inspire further collaboration between the two countries in the fields of design, fashion, environment, music and food.

Thanks for the photos, Larzen, GrandDuchess, pdas1201, and Danielle. I really like that suit that she wore to the meeting with Bob Carr. The dress from the meeting with the children is good. Perfect for summer. The children are adorable and they really seem to enjoy her and why not! I love the Victoria pose in the yellow dress. The model pose was good too. Thanks for the article, Danielle. This trip continues to be a great success.

" ETW do her job (witch doesn´t include fashion advises...)"

I see "ETW" and "witch" nearby. Perhaps a little Freudian slip there, eh?

Swedish princess offers advice to Mary
March 17, 2005 - 8:55PM

Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria praised Denmark's Australian-born Crown Princess Mary for "wonderful" work in her new role and advised her to always be herself.

Victoria has been in Australia for a week, promoting cultural and business links between Sweden and Australia.

She arrived just as Tasmanian-born Mary and her husband, Crown Prince Frederik, wound down their official duties in their own Australian tour.

Princess Victoria, who was born into royalty, said she admired how Mary had adapted to her new role.

"It's very difficult to just be thrown into this position (with the) expectations that are put on you," the 27-year-old told reporters in Sydney.

"(Mary) is doing wonderfully and I'm quite sure that (Australians') support during her trip will help her to a great extent."

Asked if she had any advice from one princess to another, Victoria said Mary should be herself and "try to find balance in life which is hard sometimes for all of us".

The Swedish princess, who battled an eating disorder five years ago, revealed how she had struggled to cope in the limelight.

"It's been quite hard to find a balance ... (and keep focused on) who you are when you want to do so many things," Princess Victoria said.

"Living up to people's expectations is one thing but it was even harder to live up to my own expectations.

"But you learn, hopefully."

The Swedish princess, who has met Mary twice, said she had not visited the Slip Inn bar in Sydney where the Danish royal couple met, and said she was yet to meet a "special" Australian.

"I've met many beautiful and wonderful people and I've met very interesting people as well, but not in that way," she said.

It is widely known the princess has been involved with Stockholm gym owner Daniel Westing for three years.

Dressed on Thursday in a knee-length mauve dress emblazoned with cream flowers, she told reporters she was impressed with Australia and hoped to visit "privately" soon.

"I'm having fun. It's not only obligations," Princess Victoria said.

"It's a way to see what Australia has to offer - a funny way maybe, not the usual - but I get to see a lot."

She said she had high hopes that Swedish Style - the promotion of the country's design, fashion and food in Australia - would strengthen relationships between the nations.

Victoria is in training for her eventual succession to the throne, taking advice from role models and parents wherever possible.

"There's no such thing as a school of queens so it's difficult," the princess said.

"I try to learn as much as possible about so many different things in order to be able to talk to everyone."

"It's tough work but I think it's like any work actually."

Princess Victoria wraps up her Australian tour after lunching with Governor-General Michael Jeffery on Friday.

Agisele, thank you for the link to the audio-file. I´ve to say it´s super-interesting. Daniel Nyhlén told, that Daniel Westling said in the first public year of his relationship to Victoria often things like "idiot" to the journalists (further he told after a year he has changed and has even shaken Nyhléns hand and has greeted him). Can you imagine that Daniel W. has really sworn at them? If so, how (sorry!) really stupid!

article from hello magazine:

OZ INTRODUCED TO THE MANY FACES OF SWEDEN'S FUTURE QUEEN:17 MARCH 2005

http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty/2005/03/17/princessvictoria/#enviarIf her action-packed trip to Australia is anything to go by, Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria will one day become Europe's most multi-faceted monarch. Over the course of her six-day visit, the pretty royal proved that she is equally comfortable dazzling onlookers on the red carpet, getting to grips with a wild animal or even taking the wheel of juggernaut.

Upon her arrival in the country, the 27-year-old set the flashbulbs blazing at a gala dinner in Melbourne's National Gallery. Dressed in an Asian-inspired violet silk gown and diamond earrings, she proved her style credentials in no uncertain terms.

And the future queen was looking equally elegant the following afternoon when she attended an exhibition of Swedish design in a little black dress, a la Audrey Hepburn. Later in the trip she revealed herself as an animal lover by getting up close and personal with some of Australia's fauna at Healsville Animal Sanctuary. The princess enjoyed a cuddle with a baby wombat, not to mention snuggling up to a young koala bear.

King Carl Gustav's eldest daughter even proved her mettle in some high-octane pursuits, by going for a spin in an enormous truck, before joining the regulars at Prince's Park for a rather more sedate game of bowls. Meeting with leading politicians in Sydney meant it was time to turn on the style once again, though, so the Scandinavian VIP donned a yellow silk dress, loosely belted with a waist chain, on Wednesday afternoon.

After a hectic few days Down Under, Victoria would be forgiven for wanting a bit of a rest. But the people of Australia are not likely to forget the many surprising talents of Sweden's future queen.
