Last night in honor of school age 200 years in Denmark, DR (Denmarks Radio) held a special anniversary show where Mary was invited. Wearing a simple lovely purple dress with long sleeves, leopard pumps and soft curly hair:

Love it all, except the shoes. Purple shoes would have been much better! Love the dress and bag though....Last night in honor of school age 200 years in Denmark, DR (Denmarks Radio) held a special anniversary show where Mary was invited. Mary is doing all things correct-----any woman still able to wear same clothes 10 years later after having 4 children [twin to boot] deserves a loud applause from us that couldn't.

mary is surely an active lady, but let's not underestimate how much better any woman you see on the street would look with the budget mary has for clothes, shoes, make up and hair conditioning and a whole bunch of helpers around to give her time to look after herself (stylists, nannies, secretaries, etc)!

i like the colour of the dress but those leopard shoes are a no-no for me.

Mary yesterday afternoon handed out a award in Copenhagen in a white dress with a narrow belt at the waist:

And Mary is the only princess with all this?
Why is it, that being active, slim and having a healthy lifestyle seems to be a very negative thing
only when Mary is concerned?
I can understand what you are saying. But to put it in perspective, Mary (and other royals) are required - by convention rather than anything else - to dress up each time they make a public appearance, in the same way as an ordinary woman on the street might dress up to go out to dinner, a concert, a luncheon or, indeed, a wedding. It therefore follows, that if the ordinary woman on the street had to attend any of these events every day of their lives rather than once a week or once or twice a month, she would indeed require a larger budget and some additional help.
As it stands, society does not now require the ordinary woman on the street to wear coat, hat and gloves, pearls, immaculate hair and make-up and granny's diamond brooch each and every day plus a change of clothes for the evening. If it did, women would adjust to the situation and make time or get up earlier to put it all on before going out.
OK. Queen Margrethe, Princesses Benedikte, Mary and Marie are all dressing in 1950's and '60's retro and are all horrendously old-fashioned. Hmm, wonder why millinery shops abound, fashionable clothing (both couture and off-the-rack) shops are selling well and the cosmetics business is going gang-busterw and the trade in fabulous shoes and tiny, expensive clutches are off the scale.[/B]
I agree, with emphasis on 'now". Times have indeed changed, but it was very much the case with well-to-do ladies in the 1950's and 1960's. Now it just looks old-fashioned.
