just checked frederik's calendar on the CP official page and well, the event scheduled for Jan13 has been cancelled. does this mean twins on their way to the world, and frederik's presence on Jan13 highly likely required eslewhere, i.e. at home with the oldest two or at hospital with mary and the new ones???

The court has a tendency to add and remove events, they also add members of the family and then remove them at a later time. It couldve been removed for different reasons, the event might have been moved to another day or Frederik has cancelled incase the twinsa rrive and spend sometime with Mary & the new borns, who knows :)

I have been wondering why Mary chooses to give birth in the hospital instead of at home?
It seems to me it would be easier and more convenient, as well as far more private, to give birth at the Amalienborg Palace.

But it would not be safe if she needed an emergency cesarean. Its always better to be safer than sorry. I know she had no trouble in her first 2 pregnancies but this does not mean nothing will go wrong.
I dont see why the hospital is not private enough, the two previoues times seemed to be quite private.

Wasn't Margrethe giving birth to Frederik at home and had to be rushed to Riget?

I believe you are right. I remember in one of the biographies of the DRF, that she was moaning (*) and her obstretician told her to "Shut up"!

(*) No wonder! Until Alexandra gave birth to Nikolai anaestecia of any kind was very much frowned upon by doctors here in DK. The attitude was: "Grit your teeth woman, and push"!

You are absolutely right, Sternchen, and IIRC then every birth in the DRF since the birth of CP Frederik has been scheduled to take at Rigshospitalet :)

:previous: Nice photos. Sometimes you can definitely see she's pregnant but sometimes you really have to seek that bump. It's fascinating what can be done with the right clothes. Hiding a baby-bump without letting it look like you're hiding it (and perhaps not even really wanting it in the first place).

Still waiting!

I guess it could be the end of january too. The statement announced that the birth was expected in January. Maybe the Crown Princess was due in February but they took into account that twins often come early and so said January.

i don´t know. i just read it, but i couldn´t find anything on danish news...

So she's not there to give birth?

There is nothing at all on Danish news.

Keep an eye on the link, Sternchen posted. When you see the name Mary in the several headlines, then you know.

And there I was getting excited.

With all due respect to the Australian press, who appears to be just as anxious as we are regarding the arrival of the Twins.

I am basically waiting on a new thread on TRF or something from the Danish press.

If one were to say one thinks Mary is a 4 letterword starting with M and ending with F, do one get banned then:)?

Seriously?! The doctor felt comfortable saying that to a Princess? Maybe this is a translation issue, but in English "shut up" is not exactly the most polite way to tell someone to be quiet. Although even if there is a more polite way of phrasing it in Danish, I'm still surprised he would say anything at all!

BT has the story:

Frederik og Mary på Riget - Royale - BT.dk

Frederik was seen arrinving at Rigshospitalet at 18.00.

According to the DRF spokesperson, Lene balleby, Mary was there for a check-up and they are all back home at Amalienborg.

He did. The doctor said: "Hold kæft"! and that can only be translated to: "Shut up"! - in a very direct manner indeed.

Now, doctors tend to, not least in the 60's, to see themselves at half-gods. And this pretty rude way to address Princess Margrethe, was perhaps what was needed in that situation.

But Frderik goes away alone...Or I am wrong?

Yees, that's a bit odd, isn't it?

Either Mary felt some contractions and it was decided to rush her along, and Frederik followed as soon as he could. And they have now returned home.
Or she is in labour and at the hospital right now. - And Lene balleby has just laid out a smokescreen.

What if she's not technically in labour just yet (like the spokesperson stated) but they've decided to take her in anyway? While she might not be in labour (she might have had some contractions like Muhler said) she is very close to that so maybe they want to keep her there for the remainder of her pregnancy just to be sure.

I guess we'll know when the labour has started. It might also be Mary is at home but was escorted out of the hospital from a different door than Frederik to divert the press. All speculation I know! ;)

It would be a good supposition. But until we have the offical news about the addmission to Hospital for Mary, all these news are only speculations regard her probably begins of labour.

:previous: Isn't there a law against that sort of invasion of privacy? If not there certainly should be. :bang:

Of course the media attention regarding the very pregnant princess takes a real hype now. With Mary almost vanishing from the public eye, any photo of her behind or before windows must worth a fortune.

But I don't understand the discussion here. All day long we (incl. myself) at this forum are guessing what a certain royal may do or not do, what he or she may think or not think and feel. Some of us even are most certain they know all about it. We know almost everything from the royals - and by this I mean really almost everything. And now we act distracted when such a picture like the one from Princess Mary has been published? In a certain sense we are already disturbing her privacy with or without picture.

:previous: In some ways your right, but I still see a big difference between a written discussion in a forum or a hiding photographer near the palace.

For example: I don't give a sh** if someone wants to discuss weather or not not I'm just using the loo. But if someone hides in my frontyard and makes a photo when I'm actually sitting on said loo and think I'm all by myself, then I give a lot sh** about the situation. To be honest, I would be really mad.

OK, back to the topic. What's going in in Copenhagen right now? Is there even something going on?

Yeah, we can only speculate about Frederik arriving later and/or going back alone. the option of trying to divert the media attention from Mary is a good one: after all, he is not pregnant and probabily is better equipped to appear in pubblic at the moment.
One thing bothers me, though: how can people from other (hyper-critical, imo) blogs infer from this a lack of interest from Frederik's part or even a disgust for the whole thing. :ermm:
i am new to this blog but have been following them for a long time and really have to say that from a long time on I have seen the couple very close.
