Thanks for all the pictures so far :flowers:

One of the comments:

"How nice to experience HRH Crown Princess Mary - what a warm natural person she is. Despite the biting cold winter weather she took (as always) her time to look at, greeting and talking to all the people who had stand up along the way she had to go outside before her event. A group of young people got a picture and a chat, and when she turned around the corner she has a chat with some of the adults, and eventually a few of the museum's craftsmen. She always remembers the people.
I must say the Crown Princess does it all with heart and empathy ❤ She's truly a winning character, and if I am going to be converted to a monarchist, so I know who I'll blame☺️"

I wonder if you are able to watch this local news video: Video: Mary åbnede dansk smykkesamling i Den Gamle By | TV 2 | ØSTJYLLAND

I see Mary walked through the main entrance, through parts of the 1800's part of the Old Town, to the "new" neighborhood that depicts the 1970's. - Interesting that one's childhood is now so far back it's shown in museums! Sometimes I feel :yoda:

Thanks Muhler! It was lovely to see the Gamle By again; I visited it some years ago when I was in Aarhus! Don't worry about your childhood in museums; we are all museum pieces in one way or another:lol: Did you notice how the Crown Princess also stopped at one of the shop windows for another look...she probably had the same reaction as you!:flowers::bang:

That may be. I'm not sure what 1974 looked like in Australia or Canada for that matter, but I'll show you what it looked like in DK.
The Old Town is divided into three (soon four I understand) neighborhoods: the 1800's. 1927 and 1974.
Here is first an overview of The Old Town: http://www.dengamleby.dk/fileadmin/_processed_/5/8/csm_Oversigtskort_large_3b005ea8ea.jpg

Today, we shall venture down memory lane to 1974. It's be interesting to see how much of it is familiar to others here on this board as well.

First a typical shopping street: https://dalsgaardiskivholme.files.wordpress.com/2013/07/billede56.jpg
Complete with cars. And "an old garden-gate" = bicycle.

Inside the radio and TV store. Color TV's were just about getting common in 1974: http://www.elektronikfokus.dk/elektronik/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/1406-pouls-radio.jpg

Before going down a side-street to an ordinary townhouse with flats. With the residents standing outside:

My sisters did dress like that and walked around looking like that - in public!

A contrast to the ordinary family 100 years before: http://www.familiejournal.dk/sites/...cy/media/3f3a819d6a5e454395aa3ebc0fff4bba.jpg

But let's go inside: http://www.dengamleby.dk/fileadmin/_processed_/5/9/csm_st-th-enlig-mor-_101__61d4872be2.jpg

Notice the reproduction with the fisherman in a sou-west on the wall. They were extremely common. I had a leftover when I moved away from home. - Had to have something on the wall...

The old, but faithful, trams were being retired around 1974: http://www.sporvejsdrift.dk/assets/images/011_copy.jpg

And finally we have a female 68'er on her Puck Maxi:
http://www.dengamleby.dk/fileadmin/Engelsk_side/dengamleby_1970s_front.jpg
They are still a common sight. Albeit today they always have a... an organized... milkbox on the back and they are usually driven by more than well-build midle-aged gentlemen. Often the Puch-Maxi is slightly intoxicated: http://images.stiften.dk/26/363026_1200_0_123_0_2753_1721_2.jpg

You are right, Gerry. We are museum-pieces. - Certainly our daughter tends to think I am. :ermm:

This little nice moments are covered in several media today.
The 17 years young boy who got a selfie with the helpsome Crown Princess Mary :)

- Crown Princess Mary is really sweet and very down-to-earth, says the 17-year-old high school boy who yesterday had a nice experience when the Crown Princess officially visited Aarhus.

Helpful Mary: Should I stand still?
First the young boy took pictures of the walking Mary in full figure. But he was not completely satisfied with the blurry result.
- I said 'ahh' and then Mary asked me if I had gotten a blurry picture. I replied yes. Then she asked if she should stand still. I would of course like her to do that. I went closer. Eventually I took a chance and asked if I could take a selfie of us. And I could, smiles the 17-year-old high school boy.

- She's really sweet. She may not be accustomed to people directly ask her for a selfie. But she's really sweet and patient.

That's lovely. I enjoy hearing how royals are with regular people. Thanks.

I think princess Mary looked lovely yesterday. But i have to say her looks a way to 50s & 60s in the past months imo.

Well, young Putin is wrong...;) There are loads of selfies taken with Mary around. And Frederik.

Fun activity to support. Wonder what the competition was about?

Crown Princess Mary:

"Equality for me is not about that a man and a woman should be the same, but that gender should not play a role when life's opportunities and decisions are made."

- The Women's Day is a very important day where we look back and see what we have achieved. And there has been achieved very very much, but it's important that we remain focused on that we can do even better.

Q: How you yourself tried being discriminated because of your gender?

- No, and it is also an important point. I have never experienced being limited in my decisions and my choices in life. But I have seen other women in the world, where they have been limited and it's importance for not only them themselves but also their children, their families and to a greater extent their communities.

* Mary speaks great Danish, almost no accent and she speaks the same speed as a native Dane.

Danish actor Didde Hansen who entertained at the show:

- "First, I think it's super cool Mary is here tonight. I like that... For me, Mary is a rolemodel. As a woman, as a mother, as a career woman. I think the way she manages her position is exemplary."
