Thank you for the photos, iparity. The robes are quite elaborate and beautiful. Where is the Buddha housed? In Bangkok? Is the statue open to the public for reverence?

Temple of the Emerald Buddha locates in the area of the Grand Palace, Bangkok. And opened to public daily except some days for the royal ceremony (that day ussually be the public or Buddhism Holiday also)

Emily, the Temple of Emerald Buddha is also known as Wat Phra Kew (or Wat Phra Keo). It is situated on Grand Palace of Bangkok. and if i'm not mistaken, the Emerald Buddha has one robe for each season, when they're not used, the robes are stored at the museum of the Grand Palace. The temple is a 'must' when you visit Bangkok, it is very beautiful and always so crowded (you're lucky to catch a glimpse of the Emerald Buddha).

Thank you, both of you, for this information. If I ever get to Bangkok I will certainly include a visit there. It is interesting to me that the place is always crowded -- that seems to imply a great 'active' reverence for the Buddha -- are the Thai people devoutly Buddhist? or is the crowd tourists?

Amazing how the family keep on wearing yellow shirts after the King's Jubilee. I guess this year, Thailand is really floaded with yellow colours.

Jess, I think we - Thai People - may wear yellow shirt until the end of next year since HM will celebrate his 80th Birthday on Dec 5, 2007.


The celebration activities will be held more and more since his jubilee until his Birthday on this year and finish at the end of next year where we celebrate his 80th Birthday.

Princess visits family project



Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, the Royal Consort of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, yesterday visited to see progress at the "Sai Yai Rak Jak Mae Su Luk" (Love and care from mother to children) project aimed at encouraging women to breast-feed their babies.
The Princess was welcomed by caretaker Public Health Minister Pinij Charusombat, senior officials and the 134 families participating in the programme in Pak Thong Chai district.
The Princess also visited the homes of seven of the families.

Princess speaks of love for son



HRH Princess Srirasmi has prepared Mother's Day gifts for herself and her mother.
The most precious gift on Mother's Day for HRH Princess Srirasmi, the Royal Consort of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, will be a card she makes for herself, with an imprint of her son's finger on it. The princess said the card will be made from a family photograph, and to make it special, she will have her son, HRH Prince Dhipankara Rasmijoti, dip his little finger into ink made from the butterfly pea and press it to the card.

Prince Dhipankara Rasmijoti is cheerful, likes meeting people and loves accompanying his parents to royal functions, she said.
The prince is also a nature lover. He likes going into the palace garden, where he picks flowers and brings them back to his parents.
At 15 months, the prince is in good health, weighs 10.4kg and is 80cm tall. The princess said this is a result of breastfeeding and healthy food. Like his mother, the prince enjoys eating fish.
She said the prince loves being with the Crown Prince as much as he can, so his bed time has been changed from around 8pm to about 11pm.

The princess said she admires Their Majesties the King and Queen, whom she regards as role models.

Thai princess to become lawyer

BANGKOK, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A granddaughter of the king of Thailand is scheduled to start work with the Office of the Attorney General next month.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha recently received a law degree from Cornell University. She passed the oral test required of candidates for Thai prosecution positions with flying colors, the Bangkok Post reported.

The princess is the daughter of Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and Princess Soamsawali. But she applied for the government job as a qualified lawyer, member of the Thai Bar Association and a judge advocate.

Princess opens International Children's Games

BANGKOK, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Amidst resplendent fireworks and acclamations, the 40th International Children's Games (ICG) opened in Bangkok on Friday.
More than 2,000 delegates from over 80 cities of 37 countries and regions gathered at the ICG's main stadium to join the opening ceremony officiating by Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana of Thailand.
President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge said at the ceremony that the ICG was taking their efforts to encourage young people to participate in sports and physical activities in a spirit of solidarity and fair play.
He also expressed his hope that young athletes joining the ICG would compete not only in 10 sport events but also to enjoy the part of an interactive cultural experience.
The participating athletes are between the age of 12 and 15. They will take part in altogether 10 sports including basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, dance sports and some other items for medals.

Princess Sirivannavari will join Thai team in Asian Game

The Olympic Committee of Thailand has decided to send a squad of 489 athletes, including HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana, to the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for December 1-15.

"We sent a letter to the private secretary of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn about the exact date of the delegation's departure. The secretary has already briefed the Prince and the Princess, and it has been confirmed the Princess will accompany the team," said Charouck,OCT secretary-general.

"The Princess is also keen to stay in the athletes' dormitory along with the Thai athletes and those from 44 countries of the region. Although safety measures within the dormitory are very strict, it is necessary that good service be offered to the Princess, in accordance with royal Thai tradition. The Thai ambassador to Qatar and his wife will take good care of the Princess," he said.

"At the same time, the OCT members will coordinate with the host country to provide good service and safety to the princess. I hope her trip will boost the morale of the Thai athletes in the Games."

HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn donated 132 relief bags to flood-affected residents in Pathum Thani and visited the medical mobile units in Muang District Office and Sam Khok district's Wat Chaisitthawas.

Public Health permanent secretary, Dr Prat Boonyawongvirot, who welcomed the Crown Prince at Sam Khok, said that 93,990 people in Pathum Thani's seven districts were flood-affected and that from Sept 27 until Monday, 11,276 had had treatment for water-borne diseases.

The Crown Prince and HRH Princess Srirasm delegated Air Chief Marshal Yothin Prayoon-phokaraj to grant 1,000 survival kits to villagers in Tambon Hantra in Ayutthaya town, and ordered 50 royal guards to coordinate with the governor and to aid local residents.
