King Frederik and Queen Mary at the celebration of 20 years of the Crown Prince Couple Awards in Copenhagen this evening, November 5:

Hmm... I'm normally very fond of the combination of boots and short skirts - something about the 70s and ABBA I suppose - but this time...
A least the guests pictured are not outrageously dressed, outlandish perhaps, but not outrageous.
And to me King Frederik looks like someone who'd much rather nod off in front of the TV with his feet up. Which is something I dare say most men their 50s prefer to do on a Tuesday evening.

Starting next year, the awards will be known as the Royal Couple Awards

The show will be broadcast on the 9th, but we can read about some of the moments. The name change was announced and I like what they said,
"- Tonight we say goodbye to the Crown Prince Couple Awards and welcome something new. Because it doesn't end here for us, said Queen Mary, before King Frederik took over.
- We have got new titles. But we carry our values with us. That is why we will continue to support social initiatives, art and culture, and communities that bind us together, said Frederik."

The prize for communities will be new in 2025.

Frederik and Mary both seem to have fun and bring joy to this event and the organizations they honor.
20 years on, what a great wedding present this was. so many organizations honored.

Yes. They've really used the wedding gift they received to highlight the work of so many organizations and artists doing good work including the prize providing funds to assist them. Now they've added a community prize further showing their commitment to community work/projects. I like the way they went about growing the CPC (and next year the RC) prize. It was not announced as some grandiose thing or that they were going to end this issue or that issue...they used their profile and the gift they received to really highlight the work of others in Denmark/Greenland. It has always been about the recipients (being the focus of the show, the videos made about their work and the time they get to give a speech when winning). I also like how every year it has been held in a different location in DK.

Couldn't agree more Izzie. Some of the social media posts from the organizations are just full of praise and thankfulness for the attention they receive with these awards. The good work continues. They all mentioned how enthusiastic both Frederik and Mary show to their work.

A lovely photo from the ceremony

The show will broadcast tonight. Earlier this week they recorded it and took time to chat with previous winners.

I love how these awards have always been about the recipients and their work. It is not about PR for the royal couple or about celebrities. It is always focused on the winners and the impact they are making and bringing attention to them and showcasing them. Looking forward to seeing the awards continue.

Indeed. Great idea to highlight the past 20 year winners and organizations

Behind the scene pics

Previous CPC Award winner Jada, sang "Love Song" by the Cure, which appears to be a favorite of Queen Mary as she could be seen singing along. At the start of the song, in the video you can see her singing and the camera pans to King Frederik as he looks over to Queen Mary....and the end of the song Queen Mary enthusiastically applauds as the camera shows a teary-eyed King Frederik. I wonder if the song has special meaning for them. What a lovely and emotional reaction from both of them!
