Counts Nikolai, Felix, Henrik & Countess Athena, News Part 1: 2023 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Videos from the Milan fashion show, he looks kind of awkward in these

On his recent Instagram posting, on the second slide we can catch a short video interview with Nikolai.

He says that if can learn something new it would be the French language

Well, he seems to do fine without his princely title, so he may yet live to not only survive the indignity but perhaps even turning it into something positive. :giggle:

Felix is still working/interning at Mærsk? What is Nikolai doing for a living in between modeling jobs?

I thought all of the grandchildren spoke French. I guess the internet was wrong this time. French is next on my list to learn/improve.

Count Nikolai hosted a private dinner for the Flora Danica Parfum in Copenhagen.

His girlfriend Benedikte attended as well:

Good for them.
Hiking is better than the three of them just walking around...

I wondered how many got it.:giggle: ;)

Hiking appears to have become something of a trend among young people, at least here in DK. Long walks, say 20 km a day for several days.
Certainly more healthy than partying their brains out.

And we are at trends, albeit on a very difficult topic. It's also become, if not trendy then more common to have less sex among young people. I.e. up to 25 years of age. Perhaps more in the sense that it has become much acceptable (and less prudish) to say no and that being accepted and respected. Which is of course a great thing.
Much to the consternation BTW of some in the parent and grandparent generations, who ask with some bewilderment why young people today have less sex.
Alas, another and probably more correct explanation is down to a common shyness about their bodies. Beforehand, including my generations, there was no such as showing in private after athletics and certainly not skipping showering, unless you were covered in warts. While today it is very common for children and young not to shower after athletics in schools and high schools, and that combined with the images of perfect bodies that we are bombarded with constantly it is perhaps not so strange that many, especially young, believe nature has been somewhat remissive in regards to how they are created and as a consequence may be more reluctant to have one night stands, and instead prefer to be naked around someone they really trust and connect with.
In any case we parents are the last to be told. That's just how it is.
- It sure ain't always easy to be young!

And that of course is also something that affects royal children, I'm sure. Perhaps even more so, because they are so well known. Fame, I imagine, can no doubt lead to people becoming even more body conscious.

Just a little side step based on an article I read today.

Nikolai's girlfriend gave an interview recently and explained their first date
Aww...that's sweet. Lol. I had no idea they'd been together already for 7 years! Wow. They make a stunning couple.

And, what did she say?
"In the first year and a half at the boarding school, we were just friends, but I always found him funny and admired his intelligence. Towards the end of our second year, he invited me for a ride at the local gas station. I remember the weather was great and we bought some sodas. It's funny how something so casual has ended up here seven years later".

Some people are fortunate to have met the one early on and stay together, we may hope that's the case for Nikolai and Benedikte.
I think if you can be casual and totally relaxed with someone, especially at that young age and on the first date, that's a very good sign of the two being very compatible.

I suppose it's the same case with Princess Alexandra of Hannover and Ben-Sylester Strauttmann.

Nikolai graduated from Copenhagen School of Business with a Masters degree this year Not sure what he is doing now.

Nor am I actually.
He is still doing some modelling, so perhaps he is taking it easy finding a permanent job, which I believe will leave him with very little extra time for modelling.
Or perhaps he is considering starting a business of his own, perhaps with some friends.

I very much like Nikolai, but I am a bit disappointed seeing him with a gun. What is he shooting? I hope, not birds. I am an ardent animal lover and always have problems when watching people shooting animals.

I recall seeing many pictures of the RF at a traditional hunting event where the "kills" from the hunt were lined out in the lawn etc so I suspect its just a normal part of their social circle.
From what I can see in the short video he posted it appears he is clay pigeon shooting / targeting shooting where you fire at clay disks (i.e. not actual birds)

Well, on this occasion he's clearly shooting clay pigeons. Could be for practice though. Hunters are expected to practice regularly.

I hope he keeps to shooting clay pigeions.

There is a difference to me: Hunters and foresters working together to control the dear population is necessary and ok with me.

Hunters in certain circles who are just shooting animals for the hunting event or because it was always their privilege to do it (I remember the hunting tradition in Great Britain mostly by aristocrats) are something I do not appreciate at all, just my opinion.

I absolutely agree. I don't like hunting for fun either.
Hunting has to serve a purpose that benefits nature. After all with too many humans around, there isn't room for predators the keep a population of deer and such at a sustainable level and healthy.
If you hunt with respect for nature instead of just blasting away counting as many kills as possible. Where the hunter makes observations and work with nature- and animal-protection organizations, I've no problems.

But hunting for "sport" or hunting in a certain way, (knives instead of harpoons for example) because that's "tradition", that I'm against.
And hunters should be responsible and good shots, otherwise go hunt with a camera instead, that must be just as rewarding and perhaps even more difficult.

Did the photo with the queen have autographs on them? And did QM sign it with, “Mother”?

Nikolai visited Schackenborg Castle.
Interesting - I was not aware that Joachim's family spent any time at all in Shackenborg these days. I was under the impression that they walked away and washed their hands of it in favor of more time in CPH. I am glad I was wrong and would like to hear more about the family's current level of involvement with the estate.

She did. A sweet detail.

They certainly have.
When they left Schackenborg, it was with the understanding that they would visit regularly. (I suppose it maintained an affiliation with the DRF after the sale. Joachim's presence meant quite a bit to the locals. Instead of only having the DRF visiting Gråsten during summer. With Joachim there there was a permanent DRF presence in that part of DK. Queen Ingrid spend a lot of time at Gråsten after she became a widow and that was very much appreciated in Southern Jutland.
Anyway after the sale of Schakenborg Joachim and Marie returned quite often, mostly during weekends and they also took part in various local event while there and was generally seen out and about. That dampened the disappointment of Joachim having to sell Schackenborg a little.
And after J&M moved first to France and then USA they have usually visited Schackenborg when they return to DK for visits. After all their house in Copenhagen is rented out, so the alternative is an apartment at Amalienborg and I think they both like the place. Marie has certainly said so. While Alexandra was more of a city-person. Of course such visit must be pretty infrequent and perhaps only a couple of times a year.
So it's good that Nikolai (and Felix?) also visit Schackenborg. After all Nikolai spend his early childhood there and must have pretty good memories of the manor.
It also gives a place more life that someone from time to time come visiting and rearrange the dust.

It's similar with Chateau Cayz, It's good that someone come visiting from time to time, otherwise it's better off being sold.
But I don't think the Regent Couple, nor their children, will go visit Cayz very often, while Joachim and his children seem fond of the place.

I think we'll have to see.
Frederik and Mary have been more discreet about using Cayz, while with Joachim and Marie, and previously Alexandra, we did get a few interviews from France. That doesn't mean Frederik and family are not fond of it.
and now with 19 and 17 year old Christian and Isabella, they might start using it more and more as independent adults.

Nikolai has given as some insights into these two residences via his Instagram.
