My analysis - and yes I know my figures differ somewhat to Mr O'Donovan's. People are free to assume his are the ones that matter and mine are made up, which I know many people think ... that somehow I get them out of my head. I don't. I started doing this to help deal with the severe depression I was suffering after the death of my father and I wanted to see if I was as accurate as Mr O'Donovan. I have always been slightly higher and I include all HRHs and spouses while he doesn't e.g. he has Harry, Meghan and Andrew on 0 when they were clearly mentioned in the CC. I only count engagements listed in the CC. He obviously uses a different CC to me, which I doubt as we both use The Times, or doesn't count things I do. In the following posts I will be posting my total for the year for each royal with a breakdown of what they have done.

If there is a heading missing on a royal that means there was no engagement of that type for that royal e.g. only two will have an engagement as a 'Counsellor of State'.

I also have a breakdown of the engagements done by those who changed titles during the year so a before and after comparison can be done if someone wants to do that.

Just an explanation of how I count:

16 December 2022
Buckingham Palace
The King this morning visited Community Security Trust, Shield House, 6 Harmony Way, London NW4, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa), the Chairman (Mr. Gerald Ronson) and Mr. Mark Gardner (Chief Executive).

His Majesty, escorted by the Chief Executive, joined a Reception with trustees, volunteers and police officers and viewed a demonstration of equipment and private security, before receiving a briefing in the National Security Control Centre, attending an Anti-Hate Crime Meeting and meeting members of staff and researchers.

The King this afternoon visited JW3 Community Centre, 341-351 Finchley Road, London NW3, and was received by Ms. Roxane Zand (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London), the Life President (Dame Vivian Duffield) and the Chairman (Mr. Marc Nohr).

His Majesty, escorted by Mr. Raymond Simonson (Chief Executive), met students from the Gateways Programme, visited the Kitchen and met refugees, volunteers and members of staff preparing meals for charity, before meeting food bank volunteers and joining a pre-Chanukah Reception for Holocaust Survivors.

This was the entry for Charles III on 16th December. To me he carried out 2 engagements on that day - the two visits but under 'types of engagements' there will be more detail that will include those in italics which is why the total engagements and the number under types of engagements don't add up.

Thank you for all your hard work Iluvbertie, it truly is phenomenal. I would never assume his are better than yours at all, yours is so detailed and clear. Thank you from us all.

Weekly Update to 22nd January, 2023

Interesting note – so far this year three ladies have had their birthdays – HRH The Princess of Wales, HRH The Countess of Wessex and HRH Princess Michael of Kent. I didn’t expect Princess Michael’s to be acknowledged in the CC as I have no memory of it ever being acknowledged. In the past, of course, Catherine’s as Duchess of Cambridge’s also wasn’t acknowledged (granddaughter-in-law of the Sovereign) but normally the wife of the heir apparent is acknowledged. The Princess of Wales’s birthday wasn’t acknowledged. However, The Countess of Wessex’s was acknowledged as it has been since she married (wife of a son of a Sovereign). Seems some things still aren’t caught up at BP.

Weekly Update to 29th January, 2023

Sorry for the slow updates but I am currently on a cruise and the internet access varies from horrible to abysmal. Some days I have had no access at all and in ports it is even worse than at sea. Please bare with me and when I return home in early March things will return, I hope, to a weekly update.

Question for anyone in the UK with access to the PRINT version of The Times.

Has there been anything in there about The Times not running The CC anymore?

The last two days, the online version of The Times hasn't had the CC while the British Monarchy website has listed engagements for both days.

It is weird - if I search specifically for it it appears but it used to come up directly under Register. The 5th appeared on the 7th but not on the 6th and the 6th still isn't available even though the rest of the paper for the 7th is - normally the 6th would be there when the 7th goes up.

I hope I am making sense because The Times isn't.

It seems I may be back to relying on the British monarchy website - which can be slow at putting events up.

The Times online hasn't had an entry since the 5th March and I had to search for that as it wasn't under 'Register' where I normally find it.

The British monarchy website has nothing since the 6th March but I know that the King and Queen Consort were in Colchester later than that.

I have no idea why The Times online isn't putting it up anymore. I don't know whether it is still in the print edition. If it isn't then it is a very sad day as it is the end of a tradition dating back to the beginning of the CC in 1788.

Have you emailed The Times to inquire?

I have and am waiting for an answer.

Got the answer:

No longer in the online version but in the 'e' version which is an electronic copy of the printed version. Harder to find but still possible.

Other disadvantage is no comments possible on the 'e' version as there is on the online version.

For anyone interested here is the link to the 'e' version https://epaper.thetimes.co.uk/app/THETIM
