Some old photos, I hadn't seen the first one. In the third one I see a resemblance between little Prince Amedeo (ha was always a doll!) and little Prince Gabriël.

Laurent REALLY does look like his father, much more so than his brother
I think the rumors about his paternity never really took off (even if people did talk about it) because of the family resemblance, it's just undeniable.

Wow, I've always thought Gabriel was all Mathilde but you can definitely see a resemblance to Laurent in that first picture. And Eléonore looks just like Astrid in the second picture. I also see a lot of Élisabeth in Philippe in all of these pictures.

He always looked a lot like his father, also in pictures of him as a child, more so than his siblings, who have some Coburg traits but also resemble their mother's family and some of their italian cousins. As a young man Laurent also resembled his paternal grandfather King Leopold III at the same age.
The so-called "rumors" have always been so ridicolous that not even controversial journalists and royal watchers (like Thierry Debels, who spread other rumours about the family) have ever believed them

It is, actually, a picture of a very young Albert, see also the 6th picture here:

Thanks, PdV played me once again. They could be twins though, and I can see all of Filip's children in that photo.

I had never seen this picture of Leopold with his two eldest boys. Beautiful.

Little Princess Josephine-Charlotte of Belgium, Prince Boudewijn of Belgium, Count Gustaf Eduard Bernadotte af Wisborg, Princess Ragnhild of Norway and Princess Astrid of Norway.

The photo is from1936, that's almost 90 years ago. Little Gustaf would die not that long after the photo was taken. Only Princess Astrid is still with us.

What a wonderful photo o them all.

A 4-generation picture that I had never seen before: little Archduchess Anna Astrid (then a few months old) with her parents Prince Amedeo and Princess Elisabetta, grandparents Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz and great-grandparents King Albert and Queen Paola:

The quality could be better, but still a nice picture
It was certainly taken around Christmas 2016, at the same time of this one, of Anna Astrid and her great-grandparents

What happened with Gustaf Eduard?

I don't know the exact cause of his passing, but he died aged 6 (or 5 about to be 6). In fact, two of Count Folke's four sons died in childhood.

That’s extraordinary really in quite modern times to have two children out of four die in childhood. I have read that Gustaf Eduward died from complications following surgery in 1936, but he looks a very healthy happy little kid in that photo. Was it a tonsils operation or something of that sort, I wonder. And his younger brother, the third son of the family, died in 1944 at the age of ten. No information about his passing, accident, operation, long illness?
