The Princes of Asturias and their daughter will spend christmas holydays in ' La Mareta', Canary Island.

It will be Monday of the week that comes, 26 of December, when it is predicted that they arrive at the Island Don Felipe, Doña Letizia and her daughter, Leonor. It will be the first displacement outside Madrid of the small Leonor, that was born the past 31 of October in the Rúber Clinic the International three weeks before the predicted thing.
The visit of the Princes and its daughter are strictly private, reason why it is considered probable little that official acts take place during the course of the visit.
The residence of La Mareta, located in the tourist locality of Teguise Coast, to the border of the sea, was sent to construct by King Hussein of Jordan at the end of years 70 although the monarch never stayed itself in the house.

Princes and dona Leonor will spend Christmas vacations in Lanzarote

The Princes of Asturias and their daughter, the Infanta Leonor, will spend the Christmas vacations in the Royal residence of ' The Mareta ', in Lanzarote's island, they informed today to Efe governmental sources.
Don Felipe, dona Leticia and small Leonor, in which it will be her first trip out of Madrid, they have foreseen next Monday, the 26th comes to the Canary island, where they will remain until January 1, according to the mentioned sources.
The first-born one of the Princes of Asturias, which will be baptized next January 14 in the Palace of The Operetta, with her grandparents the Kings as godfathers, was born in the dawn of October 31, three weeks before the foreseen, in the Clinical Rúber Internacional of Madrid.

The Royal visit to the island of the volcanoes has started already the preparations for the stay in Lanzarote of the Princes of Asturias and their daughter, they said sources of the safety services to EFE.
' The Mareta ' already received last November the Kings during the visit that they realized to Lanzarote's islands, Great Canary and Tenerife, which colophon was a concert in honoring to the King in the anniversary XXX of the arrival to the Throne.
Used previously as place of rest for the Spanish Royal Family and numerous international personalities, ' The Mareta ' is placed to the shore of the sea, in the tourist locality of Coast Teguise, belonging to Teguise's municipality, to the North-East of the most oriental island of the Canaries.

Hussein of Jordan yielded the residence to his friend the King Juan Carlos and the building passed to form a part of the National wealth at the end of the eighties.

The building, whose design was work of the artist lanzaroteño Caesar Manrique, has all the services necessary to guarantee the total benefit of those who occupies it. The tempered climate of Lanzarote has caused that the Royal Family has gone frequently to the island and that, in addition, has offered the residence to several international agent chief executives as rest place. This real residence has welcomed in illustrious foreign guests of the Kings, like Mijail Gorbachov, Vaclav Havel, Helmut Kohl or Gerhard Schoreder, and in her the president of the Government, Jose spent the last vacations of summer Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, and his family.

Indeed in "La Mareta", the 2 of January of 1999 suddenly passed away the mother of Don Juan Carlos, Doña Maria of the Mercedes, during christmas holiday that reunited all the Royal Family in Lanzarote.

The princes arrive at Lanzarote

The institutions of Lanzarote have accepted with resignation that the visit of Princes de Asturias has a strictly private character. But a group of children thinks that Their Heights will visit them in their school, a free interpretation of the letter that to Don Felipe and Doña Letizia sent announcing their arrival.
The past month of November the students of the Public School of Yaiza received an official photography of Don Felipe and Doña Leticia with a message where review that "in a moment will visit Lanzarote". The missive one was the answer to a congratulation that this educative community lanzaroteña sent to Princes de Asturias by the birth of infant Leonor.

Their Heights and the small infanta arrive today at the Island where they will remain by space of six days, being predicted that they return to Madrid next the 30 of December. The baby will turn his second month of life between the islanders, being this one his first trip. For that reason, the institutions and associations of Lanzarote prepare presents for insignes so guests, although all the administrations have been very cautious alleging that "it is necessary to respect his desire of privacy". In any case, some city councils will make arrive gifts at the Mareta and the industralists thank for the real visit enormously.

Princes and Doña Leonor arrived Lanzarote to pass Christmas celebrations

Princes de Asturias and their daughter, Infant Leonor, arrived towards the 13,35 hours today at the airport of Lanzarote, island in which in the Real residence they will spend the vacations. Don Felipe, Doña Letizia and the small Leonor, who arrived at Lanzarote in a regular scheduled airplane of Spanair have made this way their first trip outside Madrid.

The Prince drived the vehicle with that they were transferred to the Real residence of ' the Maretá, that already welcomed in November of this year in the Kings during the visit which they made to the islands of Lanzarote, Great Canaria and Tenerife, and that finalized with a concert in tribute to the King in XXX the anniversary of the arrival to the Throne.

The stay in Lanzarote of the future monarchs of Spain will be watched over a reduced number of security agents of the Real House, unlike which it happened to the visit of the Kings to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of his ascent to the throne.

On the verge of turning two months old, Infanta Leonor travelled yesterday, accompanied by her parents, the Princes of Asturias, to the island of Lanzarote, in order to spend some days at La Mareta, a residence located in a cliff over the Atlantic.

In a grey, warm day, as it’s typical of the canary winter, Leonor de Borbón met the sea for the first time. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia, accompanied by their daughter, arrived at the island on board of a Spanair airplane, coming from Madrid. When she arrived on board, the Infanta was asleep in her baby basket, that was carried by her father, the Prince, and during the almost three hours that lasted the flight, she alternated from the arms of Don Felipe to Doña Letizia.

As it’s natural, she was the main attraction to the crew and the rest of the passengers that were travelling in the same zone of the airplane. At 1:35 PM (insular hour), the Princes left the airport, in a car driven by Don Felipe, with Doña Letizia and little Leonor at the back seat.

At that same hour hundreds of other tourists arrived at the island, to spend some days of rest. Lanzarote received them with a little rain and a grey sky, but with an pleasant temperature. At the doors of La Mareta, located in Costa Teguise (about 15 kilometres from Arrecife), tourists and photographers were waiting for the arrival of the illustrious visitors. A Spainish flag hung at the front door of the residence alerted that the house was going to be the centre of the island.

The Princes will be at La Mareta until the next weekend, since they will return to Madrid to celebrate the arrival of 2006. In these days, there are no plans, although there is no better plan than the one to seat in some of the terraces of La Mareta, to contemplate the Atlantic immensity. As far as the requests of mass media, it is predicted that the Princes and little Leonor are going to pose for a photographic session today, which will allow us to see the how grown up is the girl, since she left the clinic on last November 7th.
Since that day, it was only possible to catch a fleeting image of Infant Leonor in the arms of Don Felipe on December 7th, when the Princes of Asturias went with their daughter to a mall of Madrid.

The lanzaroteños have received the presence of the Princes in the island with joy, mainly in the locality of Yaiza, since the children of a local school hope that these days Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will visit them, as they promised to do, in letter sent a couple of months ago.
