Archduchess Marie Christine of Austria and Count Rodolphe of Limburg-Stirum, 6 Dec 08

The cathedral is absolutely beautiful! It will be an absolutely gorgeous place for a wedding.

I don't think it will be transmitted on tv, but as our Royal Family will be there I suppose it will be shown on the news and of course in Place Royale next week !

I hope that they release some pictures of the beautiful couple on their wedding day! I can't wait to see Marie-Christine's dress!

Apparently the bride will wear a dress made by Yves Dooms, a Belgian designer. Her train will be between 4 and 5 meters and her veil is a family heirloom, made from lace that was used for the cradle of the king of Rome (son of Napoleon and Marie-Louise). The bride is expected to wear a tiara from the Lux. collection.

Some of the gowns featured on this couturier's website are very interesting;). I can't wait to see her gown!

From a first glance, her dress looks lovely. However the person in green handling her train is dressed in quite an old fashioned manner with that awful cuff around the neckline.

she has a wonderful dress
Ho is the girl in green?

Marie Christine looks absolutely beautiful! Have there been any more pictures?

First impress of MC: she looks wonderful.

What's the name of the tiara she's wearing?
I can't waite to i'll see the guests

Hmm, will she retain her Archduchess title, or will she use her husbands title of Count(ess) or will she have both? She clearly outranks him.

well technically she doesn't have any title at all, the acrchduchess is only used socially but has no legal basis. So I guess she will become a countess, legally.

The bride loos beautiful, i hope to see more of them !!

Apparently a lot of people were watching outside and the center of Mechelen was closed for cars...

I like the fur details on the sleeves, although I'm not a fan of the shiny fabric of the top coat... I like the little bridesmaids and pageboys' winter look... red velvet is perfect for a winter wedding

The bride is beautiful and looked stunning, as did her little sister Gabriella. I'm disappointed at not seeing the bride's grandfather, Grand Duke Jean. I can't seem to locate him in any of the photographs. Can someone help me?

Well from the first impression I´m a little disappointed about the bridal gown: The fabric IMO is too thin for wintertime and the fur at the wrists makes it look even thinner and not warm enough. The same with the decollette. Too bony for the fabric. And the bangs hanging down looks kind of untidy. The whole dress IMO looks cheap and too plain and home-made and kind of like underwear. The way they fixed the veil on her head also looks untidy. Why didn´t she wear another kind of tiara. Not that one almost lying on her head instead of looking like a little crown.
MC IMO looked much much better on earlier occasions when she wore gala dress and her bangs were combed out of the face.

He had a hip replacement in late October so he may not be there.

Ah, the mother of the groom is wearing Natan. It seems princess Mathilde didn't attend and I haven't seen a picture of the old grand duke either.

The archduchess is wearing a tiara from the lux. collection, I remember a picture from the early 80-ties, Maria-Theresa wore the picture with a dark pink dress and a black/silver top.

Lovely veil btw:

Well... Although weather is not exactly pleasant, I have to admit I have expected better outfits. Countess Colliene looks rather awkward in a tin-themed outfit by Nathan. The stiff shawl type wrap further worsened the look for me. Princess Astrid's shiny silver-lilac ensemble is relatively all right, but the so 1940s headpiece tends to look unflattering on her. Outfits of Princess Maria Laura, Princess Sibilla, and children of Grand Duke Henri were well-chosen. Grand Duchess Maria Teresia looked very nice in a light coloured suit and a black airy headpiece.
As for new Countess Limburg Stirum, I have mixed feelings about her wedding outfit. Yes, the fabric was a bit too shiny as well as fur trimming looked somewhat awkward. The dress cut was conservatively traditional. Based on the photos, it seems to me that an upper part of the dress was poorly fitted. A combination of veil and tiara was appropriate.

Thanks elisabetteke! The groom has a friendly voice... He seems rather nervous too, as would most grooms on their weddingday, even without those camera's...
Apparently there were priests etc. from all over Europe, not just Belgian ones.
