This is the correct thing to do. A gentleman is supposed to walk at the right of a woman and in front of her. Reason: he's supposed to be ready to protect her from attacks and grabbing his sword. I know, I know...

No It was an emission at the French television years ago. Some specialists about protocol and social history were invited on a show. I remember that rule because that was quite unexpected (the man before the woman). And I made a mistake BTW: the correct position is on the left.
But I'm sure they are some excellent books about protocol and good manners which explain the origins of such traditions.

In Germany we have a book called "Knigge". It has 1000 rules how to behave right in public.

Oh, yes, cool answer (and i love that smoking thing! ). Now that he's second in line to the throne (unless PA II fathers a legitimate child) I think he should study or do an appretinceship or charity work. I'm not criticizing him, more like thinking on how things should be as befits his future role, if ever. I can't believe Caroline is just letting him loaf around! She is very intelligent and studied at the Sorbonne. Maybe Andrea is not interested? But then how would it be if and when he finally gets to rule Monaco? But he's only what, 21. Maybe he will get tired of just "enjoying life".

You're absolutely right. If it comes to him ruling Monaco (I personally doubt it) he should be prepared.
Frankly, I get pretty much the impression that Caroline's kids are kind of a spoiled brat pack *sorry* and even if they're studying it's more a social thing I guess.

most people study to get good jobs in order to provide themselves in the future. and if you think about it, caroline's children are probably rich enough that they dont have to work. and i thought andrea was studying italian at the sorbonne. i remember reading it somewhere on this forum a while back

With all that money that they have, they could do so much. Isn't it sad to spend your life just skiing, sunbathing and smoking?

This would be sad, yes. But Caro's kids a occupied with things. Pierre still goes to school, he attends the 'Lycee' starting 'Terminale' after the summer. Charlotte studies in paris and Andrea followes courses in Montréal.

I don't remember who asked but Andrea indeed failed his baccalaureate but I believe he took it again and got it.
