I have read that the baby has brown hair.
Yes, she has a lot of hair, and it's brown and curly, CP Frederik says.

Can you hear it over there in Skåne ? :)

I heard it too. It was really massive.

If you didn't know what it was about you would think ''The Danes are coming - we better prepare !!! ''

congrats!!! i can't wait to see this little princess =)

It's been reported that Christian is with his mum, dad and little sister at the hospital. Friends of the couple said that they had recieved the news by SMS.

I read somewhere that it was voted in the Parliament the firsrt time or read. But is as complicated as in Spain there has to be first a Viote in Parliamnet with 2/3 majority then after elections the second vote with 2/3 majority and then there has to be a referrendum where 40% of the people who are allowed to vote have to vote yes.
Perhaps if Frederik and Mary's third child is again a boy it would be help.
I also understand that proposed change has gone through the first reading. As you say, it needs the approval of the next sitting Parliament as well. There have been attempts to link a change to the act of succession with other changes to the constitution - since the birth of prince Christian took away the need to have the succession act changed quickly.
I do think that it will be changed by the next parliament; especially if Frederik and Mary have another son who will then precede this newborn princess in the succession line. That won't sit well with the Danes I think.

... and a big CONGRATULATIONS to Frederik and Mary with their little girl:king: - was at a dinner party last night when no one seemed interested in the news and didn't want to turn on the TV or anything - arghhhhh - was sitting on pins and needles till I was rescued by a text message with the good news.

is there any pic of anybody visit Princess Mary?

I am sorry if I got this wrong. My understanding of Danish sucks. I think I have read today at the BT site that there was a 21 gun salute for the princess at Kronborg Slot.

Is any news in Denmark speculating on specific likely names for the princess? Has the christening been assigned to a date?

That's interesting UserDane. So you think they will end up changing it after all. I guess I was assuming that they might not since Christian was born first. But like you say should and if Fred and Mary ever have another boy he jumps in front of his older sister. I imagine that would not sit to well with many and likely wouldn't sit to well with the current queen. I understand the queen doesn't have political power or anything but you have to assume that she will want to try to talk to and convince whoever she can that this needs to be changed. I have to imagine she's certainly on the side of this little girl.:)

But actually I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that this wasn't changed long before Fred ever got married like it was in Norway. I would have thought in the early nineties when Norway was changing their succession law that Denmark would have quickly followed.

The people want it changed, but the problem has been that to many politicians have seen as an excellent opportunity to fiddle with the constitution. People does not want that. However the government is now moving forward with a change that only changes what needs to be changed eg. the Succession law, which is tied to the constitution. :)

Oh, I see! Those darn politicians are trying to take advantage of the situation, I get it.:bang:

P.s. Thanks to everyone that has been willing to share and inform about this subject. Learning things like this is really very fascinating to me.

Is it only me? I found the whole birth for so far, from what I have seen on internet and in pictures, poorly organized. I don't know. It is all so chaotic and done with no any decorum at all.

I'm a bit surprised about this. You would expect the Danish Court taking it's grip on it. Of course I would not get back to the years that an uniformed Prince walks with an infant in his arms and shows the newborn to the authorities, making deep and revered bows.

But this really looks like a chaos. I'm not sure what to think about this. Is this the 'Elvis is alive!' show or is this the birth of a royal infant? Of course I can be terribly wrong and there is no any mess, chaos, the Queen and the Prince trapped in between photographers, etc. The Prince in bleached jeans, just in a hallway, caught in flashlights, dunno.... This was more 'entertainment' than 'royal' for me.

My impression can be totally wrong, of course.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't the baby born too early? That might explain the chaos....

In Spain, according to said the Real House, the little princess wont born until first of May and everything already is perfectly organized since one or two weeks because nobody ruled out the possibility that the birth get ahead.

Could explain further what you mean by "chaos" ?
The Prince in bleached jeans ? Beige jeans for men are in fashion these days .. I don't understand, what you have against Frederik's attire yesterday. He was wearing these clothes, when his wife gave birth to their babygirl, and the danish tradition is that the father goes down to the press and tells about it all, does the hand gesture with the length of the baby. That's obvioustly the danish way of doing it. What is the problem ?

I have not seen any chaos, so far everthing went absolutely normal,
in (almost) exactly the same way as it has when Christian was born.
The baby was born, the hospital team said they were pepared,
Frederik gave a brief interview shortly after the birth
(so most probably was wearing what he was wearing during the birth, just my guess of course),
there was a canon salute at noon today, tommorrow the couple will leave the hospital
and present their daughter to the press (Frederik will most probably wear a suit
as he did when they left the hospital with Christian in 2005).
Here is some info about the decorum at a royal birth. Kongehuset - Aktuelt - Nyheder

It's the Danish way and I think you will have to wait a long time to see the Danish doing things in a Dutch way. :ROFLMAO:

Btw I personally think the Dutch decorum seems ridiculously patriarchalic,
as if the mother has nothing to do with the whole thing.
But I guess in the Netherlands with its line of queens the man were so unimportant
and had so little to do that the protocol people probably said:
Let's give them a major role at royal births.

I was away for the weekend and come home to this fantastic news! Congratulations to the Royal Family!

Whithout the total lack of decorum and the excess, you have the Prince of Asturias who mad his speech with a velvet jacket and a tie.

Yes I think, as Henri M. that it's a little bite unformal. For instance I understand the duke of Palme who immediatly after the Irene's birth was drinking the champaign with the doctors, in shirt, but the baby is not Royal Highness.

Hi! I'm from Poland, this is my first post. Unfortunately we don't have royal family in Poland. I love royal families of Europe.

I'm so happy because of this little princess!!! I don't think they name her Elizabeth or Ingrid because of princesses in Belgium and in Norway. I think Henrietta not, because Mary is a modern woman and Henrietta is an old-fashioned name. Maybe Hanrietta will be the second, third or fourth name. Queen Ingrid's name were: Ingrid Victoria Sofia Louise Margareta. I don't have an idea how they could name her. I think they will surprise us. But I'm sure that the princess will be very beautiful like her mother and grandmother

Well Henri, I totally get what you are saying.;) I definitely see the difference. But all RF's are different. However, I must say I am all for more tradition and decorum than what is being presented.

Any pictures of them arriving at the hospital or visiting grandparents. I wonder if Mary's father is in the country as teh baby wasn't expected for a month

Tomorrow at 11:00 CET :)

I came back just two hours ago and thought we'd have pictures of the little baby girl. So Mary and the little princess are going to leave tomorrow at 11:00 CET. Is it Denmark time? If it is when I wake up tomorrow I will have a lot of pictures to see.

I second that! Henri, one day you will have to face the fact that some things are done differently from the Dutch royal family
Thank God - I say - for informality and spontaneity (as in meeting the press wearing the clothes Frederik was happening to wear....) and just share the joy of the moment.
The more formal 'presentation' will be tomorrow where Frederik will no doubt wear his suit and the press be allowed to take pics - the way it has been with the last 4 births in the DRF.
We don't complain because other royal houses do not present new members in the same way;)
