This is not a thing to wish, you can't purchase a gender. But maybe the second child will be a girl. Then we have another tradition: First gender of the born royal, then gender of the married "royal".

We will most likely have his name and title tomorrow (wednesday). That's announced at a konselj (don't know the english word for that - perhaps Cabinet meeting?), but it's always been just the king who participated in that, not the queen.

Interesting detail: The king was supposed to visit Halmstad on friday, but now that trip will be cancelled due to the Te Deum. If I'm not mistaken, the last attempt to visit Halmstad was also cancelled due to a Te Deum (for prince Oscar). It's like it's not meant to be...

It seems unlikely they would use her father's middle name instead of first, certainly even more after the birth of Prince Oscar. Carl may have been used for Oscar but as an honor to both the baby's daddy and grandfather, I don't think they would avoid using it.

It seems very likely they chose the hospital as it was where Sofia was born.

I am surprised the name wont be announced till Thursday. I thought the cabinet meeting was normally held the day after, unless a weekend/holiday

This is wonderful news!! Happy all went and is well w/Sofia and her little Prince!!

I just had a feeling seeing those pics last week it would be this week. Not just how big she was, but also how she looked over all. A few Cousins have looked that way late along in things and w/in the week of me seeing them...New branches on the Family Tree arrived.

Perhaps taking in the fact of tomorrow's Big Birthday in the UK? They have to know most attention will be focused there tomorrow and, as important as the name and Duchy Announcement is, at the same time I can see them wanting it to be *The* Royal Story of the Day. Not that it won't be in Sweden, but in the rest of the World?

There's nothing better than that!! Mind you, add in Estelle and Leonore to show the younger Cousins how to get into Mischief (Hey, that's what older Cousins do best!! ) and....The Summer Palace might not be left standing by the time all is said and done in 20 some years from now.
