State Visit from China: March 30 - April 1st, 2014

While I agree that China is an economic superpower, the United States still is the world's largest economy and the dollar is still the preeminent currency

    Royal Transportation (land, sea, air)

I am hoping to see it in action for the state opening of parliament in June ( I think )

Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie's Fashion & Style Part 3: June - December 2013

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I find it a little baffling that someone would think that Stephanie has a better sense of style than Kate. Just because someone wears a hemline at or below the knee shouldn't equate to being better dressed.

Catherine Middleton's Wedding Tiara: Suggestions and Musings

Diana did indeed wears the Cambridge emerald choker on several occasions, most famously as a head band on a tour of Australia ( I think).

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

I agree with your comments, and I think that the only thing that would over shadow William and Catherine on their wedding day is if by some miracle Diana rises from the dead to make an appearance, or if the second coming of Christ happens to fall on April 29th - lol.

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

I agree that The Queen will have Catherine choose from a selection of jewels from her impressive collection, I severely doubt that she have all the jewels in the vaults displayed. We all know that there are several pieces that are closely linked with the Queen and she would not have those pieces...

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

http://cdn.theroyalforums.com/ugala/forums/images/editor/smilie.gif Your are right, there certainly isn't a shortage of carriages. I believe that the royal mews states that they are over 100 carriages/coaches in the royal collection, not sure how many of them are usable.

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

I am not sure the words "vastly expensive" should be used to discuss the extra cost involved in using a carriage vs a car. I am under the assumption, that the people involved in caring for the carriages already work in the royal mews, and that cleaning supplies can't be that expensive for it to...

Kensington Palace 1: Ending Sep 2022

A lot of the embassies are still owned by the crown estate but the country takes over the free hold for a period of time etc- that is my understanding but I could be wrong. For instance Canada House and South Africa house are still still considered crown estate property. I believe that if...

Wedding of William and Catherine: Suggestions and Musings

I disagree, because it is a major public event, I think that his uniform will incorporate some form of grandeur so not to be totally outdone by his bride. The uniform that Charles work to his wedding wasn't a standard navel uniform but was made more ceremonial looking. I think that William will...

HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto, Princess Clotilde and Family 6: March 2010-2022

I would like to believe that this is a real adoption and not a sponsorship. If this was simply a financial arrangement I doubt that this would be cause to make the news, I don't think that they would simply give money for the benefit of the children and leave them in the orphanage. I not too...

Prince William's Suitability to be King

I think that William has a fine head on his shoulders, and it's not essential that he is considered an intellect. While it would be nice if he did further he learning, I think that he as well as the British people are happy with his current career path, and he has proven him self to be very good...

Precedence of Emperor of Japan compared to European monarchs

In terms of precedence the all monarchs are on equal footing. What they use to determine precedences is how long they have been reigning, and the Emperor of Japan came to throne in 1989. Monarchs do not bow to each other, and no European king or queen would bow to the Emperor of Japan. In term...

    Osborne House, Isle of Wight

FYI, if you youtube ( Kings & Queen - Queen Victoria) a lot of the documentary shows in the interior and exterior of Osborne House, and the interiors are magnificent. I wish that the royal family had kept it as one of their homes, it would have made a fantastic summer retreat. I believe that the...

Catherine Middleton's Wedding Tiara: Suggestions and Musings

A couple of years ago there was this documentary " Painting the Queen" by Rolf, in one segment the Queen herself states that most of Queen Alexandra's jewels are still in the vaults, untouched for almost a century. She goes on to discuss the ropes of pearls worn by Alexandra, which the queen...

Correction to my previous statement, the Golden Carriage is indeed covered in gold leaf.

Dutch Royal Carriages, Cars, Ships and Airplanes

The Gold state coach is very beautiful, I remember reading that the coach is actually painted gold rather than using real gold ( gold leaf) as done with for instance the gold state coach in the British collection.

Costs, Income, Fortune and Expenditures of the Danish Royal Family

Jordan not so rich I don't think that Jordan is that rich of a nation, it doesn't have vast oil or natural gas reserves when compared to it's neighbours. I suspect that the royal family is independently wealthy and thus allowing for Rania's huge expenditure on clothing. She seems to be the...

King Edward VII (1841-1910) and Queen Alexandra (1844-1925)

I've been judging old photos and pictures of the two beauties in question, I find Alexandra the greater beauty, as Sissi seems to have a hardness about her face/expression.

    Windsor Castle

Oil under Windsor I recently came across an article from 1994 stating that oil might have been discovered on the grounds of the castle. I tried to find out the out come of the exploration but came up with nothing. Does any have any more information about this?

Queen Elizabeth II: Tiaras, Necklaces etc 2: Nov 2007-Dec 2015

I am in total shock that HM is wearing black. I don't think that I have ever seen her wearing black except for "times of mourning" or visiting the Vatican.
