    Descendants of Queen Victoria

They're pretty much all related. A good place to start is the family tree going back to Victoria, which shows the relations to several other royal families. British monarchs' family tree - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Worst British Monarchs

No, he wasn't giving information to the Nazis. There's no proof and I don't understand why he would have done that anyway. What did he know that the Nazis somehow found out anyway? Is there anything that he knew that wasn't common knowledge among British forces that the Nazis ended up knowing...

"W.E" (2012) - Film produced by Madonna on the Abdication of Edward VIII

I've read the script (it leaked online a while ago) and it doesn't romanticize anything. It's very dark; way too dark for my tastes. In the movie they pretty much hate each other by the end. It seems like she wanted to make the relationship look messy and complicated and make Wallis seem...

"The King's Speech" (2010) - Film about George VI of the United Kingdom

I wouldn't trust that if I were you. The claim she saw and approves of the movie originates from a Daily Mail article that claims it comes from an unidentified "inside source". That's what tabloids say when they know there's no evidence for what they're saying. Check any tabloid. As far as I can...

Duke and Duchess of Windsor (1894-1972) and (1895-1986)

Check out this interview with the Windsors from the BBC. There's some interesting things they talk about.

Relationship between The Queen Mother and The Duchess of Windsor

I always wondered what the issue was, because there are so many different reasons Wallis and Elizabeth didn't get along. But on some level I think the royals, Bertie and Elizabeth included, didn't think Wallis really loved Edward. They thought she was using him, and that she would abandon him...

"The Queen" (2009) - Channel 4 Drama Miniseries on Elizabeth II

Young Bess on TCM The movie Young Bess, about Elizabeth Tudor's childhood and teen years, will be on Turner Classic Movies Sunday at 6am Eastern Time. Set your DVR if you have one! I saw this movie a few years ago and it was pretty good. Not totally accurate or the best movie about Elizabeth...

"William and Harry" by Katie Nicholl (2010) plus Member Q&A with Author

My question: Do you think Will and Kate are really secretly engaged or whatever? I'm just curious because the media seems convinced there's going to be wedding but I don't think they would plan anything before telling the public about the engagement. As someone who's researched William and...

    Exposing Imposters

Before, I think, but her mother isn't supposed to be Wallis anyway. She claims her mother is some random woman he hooked up with Tiger Woods style. Which as I said before was not something Edward was really into.

    Exposing Imposters

She's nuts. Have you seen her website? She's into conspiracy theories and stuff. Like that the government did 9/11 and they're attempting to control your mind. Also her story doesn't make sense. Remember, she is claiming she was born in the 1940's. So first of all, we have to assume that...

    Elizabeth I (1533-1603)

Really? She's one of my favs. I think she really improved England's position in the world. Also, it wasn't easy being a woman in that time period and she managed to not get her head cut off. And if (along side being devoted to her country which is usually the fall back "positive thing" people...

Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester and Edinburgh (1776-1857)

I have heard that there were a lot of rumors about illegitimate children from George III's children which I am sure included stories about Princess Mary. In fact I think I remember reading about some rumors that had gone around in some book or another. But I don't think there was ever evidence...

    King George V (1865-1936)

So, I am miffed because I just typed all of this up with commentary and the site randomly refreshed on me or something and I lost all of it. From page 95 of the trashy (and I mean TRASHY, half this stuff is probably made up) book War of the Windsors, there's a letter quoted from the Duke of...

"W.E" (2012) - Film produced by Madonna on the Abdication of Edward VIII

I don't know. I'm not expecting a historical epic, but this could turn into an entertaining movie with camp value. Madonna just needs to avoid taking herself too seriously. I'm hoping for a musical. Madonna has directed before, I think, but she didn't get very good reviews.

    British Royal Historical Scandals

No one knows for sure. I would say yes, it was ordered by Richard or one of his supporters sometime in fall or winter 1483. If it wasn't Richard my money would be on the Duke of Buckingham. There are also theories involving Henry Tudor and his mother, but I don't think those are very plausible...

    British Royal Historical Scandals

The whole Charles/Diana mess. Edward VII also got into a bit of trouble in his day. Then there's Henry VIII, changing his country's religion to divorce his wife marry another woman and then cutting off her head. I'd imagine after the Anne of Cleves situation people just stopped being shocked by him.

    Worst British Monarchs

I still don't see how a guy who was King for 10 months could be the worst monarch. He didn't even execute anyone. ;) As for calling Elizabeth "Queen Elizabeth" from what I've read he was a bit of a nickname person and he may not have meant anything by it. It's certainly nicer than some of the...

Duke and Duchess of Windsor (1894-1972) and (1895-1986)

I always thought what he liked about her was that she didn't treat him special because he was a Prince. She treated him like just another guy. A guy she liked and later loved, but she didn't put him on a pedestal and she would call him on his crap when he did something she didn't think he...

Queen Mary, consort of George V (1867-1953)

I didn't really hear much of an accent on either of them, except the old fashioned upper-class British accent. I also thought there was some similarity in Mary's voice and her granddaughter Elizabeth's.

Duke and Duchess of Windsor (1894-1972) and (1895-1986)

You're from D.C. area? Try Second Story Books on P Street, Capitol Hill Books on C Street, Lantern Books in Georgetown, and so many more I can't think of right now. If you're ever in Fredericksburg there's Riverby books downtown. In Laurel there's Attic books, the guy who owns it knows my...

"The King's Speech" (2010) - Film about George VI of the United Kingdom

There's a good chance none of this will ever happen. Remember in the last year we've heard about multiple movies that nothing ever came of. Like Madonna as Wallis Simpson or Scarlett Johansson as Mary, Queen of Scots.

"The King's Speech" (2010) - Film about George VI of the United Kingdom

I'm hoping for the best but I doubt this will be very accurate and the actors don't resemble who they're playing at all.

"The Lost Prince" (2003) - BBC Miniseries on Prince John, son of George V

There wasn't much of a relationship between John and the older brothers. George was the one he was closest to, and I think he may have been fairly close to Mary when he was young. His oldest two brothers were away at school or war during most of the time he was alive. I mean, they weren't total...
