Yes... the present situation with Camilla reminds me of Michael Ancram, a Tory politician. He inherited the Marquessate of Lothian not long ago, but he chose to be known under his old name. So, presently he is Lord Lothian, known as Michael Ancram... just like Camilla is the Princess of Wales...

Glad to be of use. :) The King was always mentioned first in the legal instruments of 1554-1558 and Mary I called Philip her 'Lord and Husband' in her will, so, I think, it is safe to infer that Philip preceded the Queen theoretically. However, it was Mary who exercised royal powers.

Nothing prevents a daughter of William from reigning, just like nothing impeded the accession of Elizabeth in 1952... except a brother, or a Catholic husband, or converting to Catholicism.

Actually, there was a precedent—the husband of Mary Tudor, Philip of Spain, was styled 'King of England'. It comes at no surprise, though, that the Government of 1857 decided not to follow in Mary and Philip's steps.
