Charles III: Accession to the Throne: 8 September, 2022

Was there (or there will be) a formal proclamation of accession? (I mean like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proclamation_of_accession_of_Elizabeth_II) I didn't hear anything about it.

Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II: 8 September 2022

I'm watching the BBC, which states in big letters "HM Queen Elizabeth has died", but I still can't believe it. These words don't seem to make sense at all.

She worked up to two days before her death. She fullfilled her dedication of service.

    Queen Elizabeth II's Health Issues

She hasn't looked well in the past few weeks anyway. Her hands especially looked bad.

    Queen Elizabeth II's Health Issues

Of course we all hope for a recovery, but I think that if she had a serious but treatable condition she'd have probably been admitted to hospital. The fact that she's staying at home is more worrying in my opinion.

    Queen Elizabeth II's Health Issues

I understand that there was no video of her meeting with the PM last Tuesday, but only pictures. Is that correct?

    Queen Elizabeth II's Health Issues

I really don't know what to say at this time, but the situation does seem very concerning.

"The Crown" (2016-Present) - Netflix Drama Series on Queen Elizabeth II

Of course! Maybe they changed that because they didn't want to get back to the issue later. In the first episode there are many explanations about facts and people in the dialogues (such as the comments about Philip's sisters).

"The Crown" (2016-Present) - Netflix Drama Series on Queen Elizabeth II

I watched the first two episodes. SPOILERS Overall I'm enjoying it, but there are a few issues. First, I agree with the previous poster about the wows. There's a full audio recording of the wedding ceremony - which I have on CD. It's been a while since I listened to it, but I can't remember...

British Royals Websites, Links, Videos & Podcasts

The new site has simply no structure: it's like a library hit by a cataclism, with the books scattered all over the place and the pages torn out. I'm surprised that some can actually use it, but it may be a generational thing: at 36 I'm probably too old to learn how to use a "deconstructed"...

British Royals Websites, Links, Videos & Podcasts

I'm shocked at the new site!!! What's that mess supposed to be? What were they thinking?! I cannot look at it for more that 10 seconds. And scrolling those endeless pages? Insane. Goodbye, official British Monarchy website, and R.I.P.:innocent: :bang:

I think she leaned on Philip's hand at least once before when leaving St. Paul, years ago. I can't remember the event. Maybe the Golden Jubilee.

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh: Official Visit to Rome - April 3, 2014

Sorry, I didn't explain well. Carabinieri (which Corazzieri are a part of) are an armed force (previously part of the Army, now independent) with police duties. But we also have the Police, as any other country. These two corps are traditionally seen as in competition, because many of their...

Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh: Official Visit to Rome - April 3, 2014

Those rather impressive guards are the Corazzieri, a special mounted division of the Carabinieri (who are a kind of police, but... not the police), and they act as the President's guards. One of requirements to join the Corazzieri is being tall (at least 1,90 m). Corazzieri - Wikipedia...

Letters to and from The Queen

It's very interesting, as the Diamond Jubilee usual reply was an illustrated card. I actually received a specific reply to my wishes for the Queen's 80th birthday because I had enclosed a poem about the Queen, which was briefly mentioned in the letter from the Palace. (sorry for the bad scan).
