The photo is wonderful, they make a very beautiful couple. I really like the ring.

Aqui estão os ancestrais de Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer:
He and Princess Marie Caroline even have common ancestors!

Look what I discovered!:D

His family is very catholic. Landowners and the like. Very old money.

It will be a grand event, the Gotha will show up and we will probably get to see many of the young CPs represent their parents. I can't wait!!!

On a lighter note: Princess Angela will have someone -other than her husband and son- to talk Spanish to, lol.

Both of them are descendants of Gaspard de Rochechouart, marquis de Mortemart (1575-1643)

Full circle!

Wooooow!
Congratulations to the couple!

Totally unexpected!
Honestly, I thought she would end up married to a German or Austrian nobleman. But in the end they still find themselves in the same circles.
Congratulations to the couple!

Many Congratulations to the couple. And an emerald engagement ring! I’d like to get a closer look at that.

Congratulations to the couple and their families!

Isn't Leopoldo's mum a German or Austrian (her surname Vollmer sounds German)

Their eventual children will be surnamed Maduro y de Liechtenstein.

Congratulations to Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo!
I like the photograph of Leopoldo portraying King James VI of Scotland.

Wonderful news! They do make a good looking couple!

The Liechtenstein Princely family has been surprisingne with their choice of marriage makes. Recent marriages have been non-noble/royals.

None of Prince Nikolaus and Princess Margaretha's children married royals or nobles. I believe marriage of Nikolaus and Margaretha were the last time 2 royals from reigning houses married each other.

Congratulations to Princess Marie Caroline and Leopoldo!

It is lovely news and many, many congratulations to them, but no he doesn't look like James VI. Nose, chin, face shape, eyes and mouth very different. James also had red in his hair when younger like both his parents.

That would indeed be the Venezuelan surname, not sure if they go with that tradition or just use one surname as is common in most of Europe. I guess it will also depend on the nationality of any children they may have.

Two surnames, first goes the paternal surname (Maduro) and then the maternal one (Vollmer).

Edited: just realised it's their future children's surnames that are being discussed. Princess Marie-Esmeralda comes to mind, her children are just "Moncada", like their father.

Given the very strong patriarchal tradition in the Liechtensteins, I think it would be nice if any children had their mothers name as well and a Counts title maybe of a village near the castle. I think Princess Nora's daughter has this (maternal name added).

Yes but Princess Nora husband was spanish and her daughter has as far as i know spanish nationality.
I don't think a countly title will be given to future children of Princess Marie Caroline, and it is likely that she will be assume her husbands surname and be adressed by it as it is the case for other married Liechtenstein Princesses

The children of Princess Tatjana and herself are only named after their father : von Lattorff.

Moreover they have no title and are not even in the succession line for the throne of Liechtenstein because they are from a "female branch". So it is likely that it would be the same for their future children if they decide to have them.

However as the daughter of Princess Nora seems to have both, maybe it's also about the law of the country they are born/live.

Like Nora's husband, Leopoldo comes from the Spanish tradition of carrying the surname of both parents. It would not be that surprising if the couple's future kids do as well.

Tatiana's husband is german and i guess her children have the german nationality. So it is only normal that they have only his surname

Any new news about Marie Caroline's choice and his family?

So, he is a banker - but from Venezuela, if I understand this right. And Venezuela is plagued by hyperinflation.

But he has an exellent education in St. Andrews and Cambridge - he must be from an affluent background. And as a banker he fits very well into the Liechtenstein clan, which has it's own bank.

Affluent doesn't begin to describe it. Both his maternal and paternal families are very old money and, as noted before, he and Marie Caroline have ancestors in common.
Leopold's family owns his country's largest distillery (some world famous rum they make), sugar plants, a bank, and insurance company, etc.
His paternal great-great-grandfather, Vicente Lecuna Salboch, was one of his country's great intellectuals of the 20th century- an engineer, banker and historian who was president of the Caracas Chamber of Commerce, member of the National Academy of History and a member of the Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences, as well as a restorer, organizer and curator of the Simón Bolívar Archives, a rebuilder of his birthplace and editor of his documentation. After his passing, a three-day national mourning period was declared.

His mother seems to work at the Vollmer family foundation. His father lives in Miami (his linkedin shows he had an important job within Barclays for many years). Depending on the source, Leopoldo has either 5 or 3 more siblings
.

Yes his parents are based in Florida. His mother as well as her work with her family foundation (she founded their research center) she is director of education for the Foundation of the four arts in Palm Beach.

Leopoldo's Uncle Alberto Vollmer (which yes is German, ancestor came over in 1830s) runs the distillery

If I recall correctly, there is a provision in the Liechtenstein House Laws about the surname and title of Princesses after marriage; it states that they assume their husbands surname followed by the title Princess von und zu Liechtenstein.
So it's most likely that, following this rule, Marie Caroline after marriage will become Marie Caroline Maduro Prinzessin von und zu Liechtenstein.

According to the Liechtenstein House Laws, will she keep her style of Serene Highness? Or only her title?
