Queen Mathilde's Eveningwear Part 5: January 2024 -

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
She looks overdressed when you look at what other female guests were wearing.

Beautiful elegant look for what is essentially pants. Funny that Mary, Charlene and Mathilde all wore jumpsuits

Queen Mathilde in Natan at the National Day fire works display last night, a bit too dark, autumn-like for me for a summer night:

The above is like Tribal meets Rio Carnival to me. The pattern is so loud people around probably didn't hear the fireworks.

Much better here
Both queen and the other lady to the right side are wearing a similar style we see in royals, like a cape that is also part of the outfit or gown with part of the upper arm and shoulders covered and then open down the forearm. I used to see the retired Empress of Japan in this type of look.
Is there a fashion name for this type of cut? A faux cape gown?

I don't what to make of it its an odd combination and a long white dress would have looked nicer.

There's something ill-fitting around the waist-hip area. Other than that she looks ethereal from the waist up!

I noticed that too but didn't comment on it because it looks odd in the front but not noticeable on the side picture. Since you brought it up, I was going to say she needs to walk like an Egyptian for it to look ok.

Not crazy over the dress, but I like the outfit as a whole.

Not crazy about the design of the dress or the print!

I like the pants and shoes but not the top. I understand it's gathered at the top but it ends up looking a little sloppy to me.

Only N outfit I’ve ever liked. but look at the pulling around the collar and the obvious seam down the shoulder. All of that is so cheaply done.

The queen looks really lovely ,the colour and hairstyle are fantastic too!

Perfect cut for her, great neckline, gentle styling around the waist and length. Not to mention the tomato red is perf for her. Great hair and earrings too. So nice to see her shine away from her typical designer

Minus the feathers/plumes at the bottom its not a bad dress ,do we know the designer?

With big thanks to garderoberoyale.be - its a Dries van Noten dress!

I had not remembered it myself, but Mathilde has already worn it once in 2013:

A stunning and regal gown. Love the color.

The Queen looks nice but she was completely eclipsed by the French First Lady who has never looked better!

She looks like she is in mourning. Not a good colour (I know it's actually dark blue).

She looks very elegant and I am sure the impression would be enhanced if the richness of the deep blue velvet had been captured better in the full length photo.
Although the slim belt in the same fabric undoubtedly creates a svelte, longer line, I think for a state occasion a jewelled buckle or encrusted belt or cuffs might have looked good.
I have to say the French First Lady looks very lovely too,
