I thought that french is an official language in Luxembourg, but apparently it is not, because the GD did not speak in french, just one sentence.

French is an official language of Luxembourg and so is German but the mother language of Luxembourgers is Luxembourgish even though they learn both German and French in school and are generally fluent.
