Great pics tbhrc! Stephanie looked stunning that night! She later had some pictures taken of her with Princess Grace's painting in the Palace with that same dress in late 1984.

Looking back at this I have to say that I agree about how hard it would be to try and find a woman to in the footsteps of Grace as Albert's wife. Beauty, style, grace, and the camera loved her. I'm not surprised Rainier didn't really like many of the girls Albert dated and not because of any reputation or anything. She's just a tough act to follow.

I love her dress in this photo and how Caroline looked. Her dress the flower in her hair was an excellent choice to add to her beauty. She is her mothers daughter when it comes to style.

I also like how the three ladies and Albert wore white to the Ball in 1984

Thanks for the pics! They're great It was the first Red Cross Ball held at the Sporting Club.

The only Ball Stephanie attended was 1982's Red Cross Ball, where she wore Grace's engagement dress.

What a beautiful and timely gift you made for us, monaco70s. The ladies of Monaco are unbelievably beautiful. It is so poignant too: we see Princess Grace at her peak, and what a presence she had, and, as is in the nature of the human process, she has to let the younger generation step into the limelight (I'l never forget when Jours de France captioned Princess Caroline's first appearance at the ball "It is Princess Caroline people look at now, at her father's arm" -- sweet words for a mother indeed, but that must be tinged with the hint of one's mortality), and that generation in turn will give way to the next one. Monaco, and the world, has been very fortunate that 3 generations of gorgeous women have graced the principality. Thanks so much for recapturating the beauty of the past fifty years. What nostalgia you instill!
