Princess Adelaide de France did not approve of her father's mistress.
Nor did their younger sister Louise-Marie of France.
This very devout Princess spent her days praying to rid her father of the influence of Madame du Barry and in 1770 took the veil as a Carmelite nun at the Carmel Priory of St Denis.
Louise was later elected Prioress of the Convent but died suddenly in 1787 aged 50 and was buried at the Chapelle du Carmes de St Denis.
In 1793 her burial was desecrated when the Convent was sacked and her remains dumped into a common pit.
