Sophie zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg: Die Prinzessin hat Ja zu ihrem Grafen gesagt! | BUNTE.de

"It is the union of two German princes' families: Representatives of the Saxon-Coburg and Gotha families, Schaumburg-Lippe, Bavaria, Hohenzollern, Sayn-Wittgenstein and a few more traveled to Wertheim on Saturday (June 24th) to attend the marriage of a special couple. Sophie Prinzessin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg (28) and Constantin Graf Fugger von Babenhausen (30) have been married since December 2016. This was followed by an ecclesiastical ceremony with about 500 guests in a bright sunshine in the town church. The most beautiful pictures of the wedding as well as a detailed look at the princess's wedding dress can be found at the top of the video!"

This tiara is sooo beautiful!!

Yes. From one of the Princely lines of the family.

Her husband Constantin is the son of Count Johannes Fugger von Babenhausen and Princess Marie Elisabeth von Lobkowicz. He is also grandson of Prince Friedrich Fugger von Babenhausen and Countess Gunilla Bielke.

Imo, the tiara is a stunner! Wonder why it hasn't popped up before. :(
Are the Fuggers one of those families where the head carries the title of prince while the other members have a lesser title?

Thanks for the information!
My knowledge of the Fuggers is very limited. Given the enormity of their wealth, the title "Prince" should not be surprising.

Yes the head of the House is Fürst and the other members are Count/Countess. But this is actually in all german Princely Families so. The junior members are either Count/Countess or Prince/Princess.

They actually where raised too the rank of Princes quiet late in 1803.

Two princely lines existed, Fugger von Babenhausen and Fugger von Glött...and others were countly branches, like Fugger von Kirchberg und Weissenhorn.

Fugger von Glött is extinct in the male line. Only the widow of the last Fürst Angela, née von Kienlin is still alive. The last Fürst Joseph Ernst has however adopted his nephew, Count Albert of Arco-Zinneberg to continue the name Fugger of Glött but he is not Fürst only Count.

True :)

And Fugger von Kirchberg und Weissenhorn is also extinct in male line. The only living member is Countess Maria Elisabeth who married Count Jaroslav von Thun und Hohenstein and took the name Thun-Hohenstein-Fugger von Kirchberg und zu Weißenhorn.

And Count Jaroslav also belonged to the Thun und Hohenstein Princely family, where the Head is Fürst and junior members were Counts and Countesses. He is a male line grandson of Fürst Jaroslav von Thun und Hohenstein (uncle and later guardian of Hohenberg children) and Countess Maria Pia Chotek von Chotkowa und Wognin, sister of Sophie, Duchess von Hohenberg, wife of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

Hereditary Count Leopold and Countess Annina Fugger von Babenhausen had their first son and third child Antonius in the summer of 2013.
A brother for Sophia and Josepha.

.

Leopold is not the Hereditary Count. Alexander is. This is due largely to Leopold's marriage to Annina Kammer, who is not noble by birth

Count Albert Fugger of Glött died on 22.12.2010 at the age of 88. He was born Count of Arco-Zinneberg and adopted as heir by his childless uncle Fürst Joseph Ernst Fugger of Glött the last male of that line.

I looked it up on Wikipedia: Count Albert's mother was a born Fugger of Glött.

A big fan of the Fuggers I am. It is fascinating, what their most famous ancestor Jakob Fugger did; not only monetarily, or that he bought Emperors their throne, but also with the Fuggerei, his social housing project in Augsburg, which exists to this day.

But Glött as I read, was acquired by Anton Fugger, who was even richer - twice as much - than Jakob. But his riches consisted largely of dodgy debt from soon to be bankrupt states, namely Spain for example.

So, it was very wise of Anton to transform the House of Fugger from mercant princes into real landowning nobility. This was started by his uncle Jakob, though.

This sounds all very modern, considered what a global debt crises we have and how folks try to flee with their money from dubious financial papers into Gold, Bitcoin and yes, real estate.

Franziska Countess of Fugger-Babenhausen's husband Mauro Bergonzoli had a special joint event yesterday. He made a live painting while Sebastian Knauer gave a piano concert at the VIP opening of the Mozart@Augsburg Music Festival at Country Atelier Kirchheim/Augsburg, Germany:
