State Visit to Croatia

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will pay a State Visit to Croatia on 16-18 April 2013 at the invitation of President Ivo Josipović and his wife Tatjana Josipović.

The Swedish Government will be represented at this State Visit. In addition, a Swedish business delegation will visit Croatia in connection with the State Visit.

The aim of the State Visit is to deepen and intensify the already excellent relations between Sweden and Croatia, which is expected to become the 28th Member State of the EU on 1 July 2013.

Media representatives will need special accreditation to cover the visit on site. More information concerning accreditation and the programme will be published on the Ministry for Foreign Affairs website.​

The Swedish Government Offices have released a preliminary programme for the upcoming state visit. The Government will be represented by the Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Carl Bildt and the Minister for the Environment Mrs Lena Ek. Business Sweden will lead a delegation of some 15 companies during the visit.

Tuesday, April 16th:
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will arrive in the morning and be greeted by President Ivo Josipovic and Mrs Tatjana Josipovic at the Presidential Palace.
*Meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament.
*Meeting with members of the Croatian Government.
*Visit to the Mestrovic Museum.
*State Banquet hosted by the Presidential Couple.

Wednesday, April 17th:
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit the University and meet students who are studying Swedish.
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit the Swedish company Ericsson.
*The King and the President will attend a seminar about Croatia as an new member of the EU and Sweden as a business partner.
*A visit to a Croatian company which is world-leading in demining equipment.
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will host a reception in the evening.

Thursday, April 18th:
*The state visit will take place in the city of Zadar by the Adriatic Sea.
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit a glass museum with historical collections.
*Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit ecological plantations in the region.
