On 14-16 September 2005, the Paramount Ruler, commonly referred to as King,
Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XII Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and wife Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah will pay a State Visit to Sweden.

According to the Government Offices, they will visit Stockholm, Mariefred and Gothenburg.

I'm certain that on this occasion there will be at least one full gala/tiara event everybody can look forward to: On September 14, when the 'welcome' dinner for the Malaysian Royals takes place.
You can never be sure if the return dinner will be in full gala as well, as protocol seems to go strange ways - there have been full gala events for visisting Rebublican Heads Of State (Austria, for example) versus Black-Tie-Only-dinners even when the visitor is a monarch (Jordan, for example), which is rather strange.
By the way: Queen Silvia has made it a tradition to wear the massive Braganca diamond tiara for each 'welcome' dinner if the head of state who comes to visit is a reigning monarch. She started this in the early 80's and has continued to do so ever since, with the surprising exception of the latest state visit of a monarch, the Jordanian Royal couple, which took place in late 2003.
It would be great to see her continuing the habit and wear that impressive 'pièce de résistance' from her collection again! And I hope that not only the Queen but her daughter(s) too might come up with a new dress.... We'll know more by Wednesday.

From Adnan Jahaya

STOCKHOLM, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Sweden, a country blessed with attractive heritage buildings, is preparing to welcome the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid.

The three-day visit will be the first by a Malaysian Head of State to the nation of nine million people.

Wednesday, the Swedes, especially in Stockholm, will witness the "Jalur Gemilang" flying along the roads and key locations including at the Swedish Royal Palace and parliament building.

During the visit, their Majesties will visit the Swedish parliament better known as "Riksdag" and "savour" the scenic landscape of the Malaren Lake.

The royal couple are also scheduled to visit Gripsholm Palace, an old palace that has become a tourist attraction.

The King and Queen will also be hosted to a state banquet in their honour by Swedish King, King Carl XV1 Gustaf, and Queen Silvia.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong will also visit the headquarters of telecommunications giant Ericsson and Volvo vehicles manufacturer.

Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim is the minister-in-attendance.

Their Majesties are scheduled to depart for Finland for a three-day visit beginning Monday.

According to Scanpix the fire alarm started during the gala dinner at the Royal castle. As usual I guess it´s nothing serious. But I´m pretty sure the tabloids make sure to let it sound serious :p

Princess Lilian is beautiful and smile, she is 90 year!! Royal family is beautiful and Crown Princess Victoria.Princess Lilian come to open parlament 13 september and she is good healt 90 year. She is love in Royal family!!!!

Out of my sources I know, that all Swedish ladies wore recycled dresses last night (now we just can hope, that they invest all their energy into new outfits for the Nobel prize award) Madeleine had a nice hairdo and she wore a "new" tiara (the one with 6 buttons). I hope me or others can come up with pics later...

silvia did not use the Braganca Diamond Tiara as she usally dies when the incomming state visit is also a kingdom
but then again she did not do so when there was a state visit from Jordan or the official visit from norway
can it be so that silvia is getting older and the tiara is to heavy for her

This wouldn´t surprise me. It´s said, that she has problems with her intervertebral discs. Sometimes she even uses a little pillow (in between the chair back and her back) during dinners...to release her pains and to "support" her back

Lena, thanks for posting the picture of the Gala. Crown princess Victoria not there?

Do you see pictures from yesterday afternoon - walk to Gamla stan or the boat-trip?
Have Scanpix no pictures from yesterday? Thanks for help.

Here are some pictures from the Gala Banquet at the Royal Palace last night. Princess Madeleine did indeed wear the six button tiara, but it looks to big on her I would say... And all outfits were recycled too. The pictures are from Svenska Dagbladet.

Victoria and Madeleine are both wearing my favorite dresses. I absolutely love Madeleine's dress. I think it compliments her skin color perfectly. At first I thought the tiara was a little big, but I think it's just because we're not used to seeing her in larger tiaras. This was the first time I've seen a picture where I thought she looked like Silvia.

I love Victoria's dress also. That's the dress she wore for the Vanity Fair 'young royals' issue, I believe. And that's my favorite tiara on her too. She looked amazing. Boy what a night for the Swedish princesses!

It's not the same dress as in the VF photo but its pretty easy to confuse the two. she wears the same tiara. but the VF dress is sleeveless and has a more pinkish color. both dresses havethe same style trein.

the color of this dress looks very good on her but the dress looks too stiff to me. its probably very uncomfortable.

Madeleine gets high marks for wonderful makeup and hair but couldnt the court jewelers have found a way to lower that tiara a little so that it would be "in" her hair rather than "on" it? (it seems to be lower on this old foto of Lilian)

the six button tiara has more symmetry than its four button counterpart but it still escapes me why swedish royal ladies seem to like them so much.

I realize the button tiaras are historic but wearing at least one them at almost every formal event isn't required (once a year is plenty of homage)

Why we can see so few pictures from the state visit. All the agency I search don't have pictures? I haven't find pictures from first day afternoon walk at Gamla stan, boat trip also from yesterday (only one pic from royalcourt) Gripsholm, Lunch and Gala at Grand Hotel. I am very disappointed.

someone needs to give a new dress to Madeleine she uses the same thing all the time... lordddddd =/
