Sweden Prepares To Welcome Malaysian King And Queen

STOCKHOLM, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- Sweden, a country blessed with attractive heritage buildings, is preparing to welcome the arrival of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid.
The three-day visit will be the first by a Malaysian Head of State to the nation of nine million people.
Wednesday, the Swedes, especially in Stockholm, will witness the "Jalur Gemilang" flying along the roads and key locations including at the Swedish Royal Palace and parliament building.
During the visit, their Majesties will visit the Swedish parliament better known as "Riksdag" and "savour" the scenic landscape of the Malaren Lake.
The royal couple are also scheduled to visit Gripsholm Palace, an old palace that has become a tourist attraction.
The King and Queen will also be hosted to a state banquet in their honour by Swedish King, King Carl XV1 Gustaf, and Queen Silvia.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong will also visit the headquarters of telecommunications giant Ericsson and Volvo vehicles manufacturer.
Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim is the minister-in-attendance.
Their Majesties are scheduled to depart for Finland for a three-day visit beginning Monday.
