I would like to find pictures of Princess Caroline and Philippe Junot's civil ceremony. They had a civil ceremony on June 28th, 1978, the day before their wedding day. Does anyone know where to find the pictures?

Thanks in advance. :flowers:

Thank you for the photos. :)

I've seen this pictures before. And, however, I saw a lots of pictures of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier's civil ceremony. After their civil ceremony, they went outside to greet the people of Monaco.

I was hoping to find more pictures of Caroline and Philippe's civil ceremony. Maybe someone have the pictures from the Point de Vue, Jours de France or Paris Match magazines.

If not, that's okay. Thanks for your help. :flowers:

Here are a few, but they all look alike. (Sorry, there is a repetition from another one posted before.) There must have been a lot of restrictions on that day as to who and when the Princely family could be photographed and which pictures could be published. Looking in more detail though, I like that very pale blue of Caroline's dress, by Dior. It should be entered in the fashion thread of Royal Ladies in Blue ! It also seems that Grace and Caroline, both dressed by Dior, had a similar pattern in the skirt of their dresses, and length. Caroline looks splendid, Philippe very handsome and solemn, in his early eighties haircut. It suits his features. I like the look of complicity between Grace and Stephanie as they seem to be smiling at a joke Stephanie made, (or was it to hide her nervousness on that most serious occasion ? ) At least she obviously behaved herself and wore a dress. (Remember how she was excluded from the ball because she wanted to wear jeans or pants ?) Nice memories, all.

Prefect! Thank you for all of the photos of Caroline and Philippe's civil cermony, iloveroyals. ;):)

I've never seen the first pic before. I agree that the colour of Caroline's pale blue dress by Dior is pretty. I love her pale blue pillbox and her short gloves. Philippe looked handsome in his suit.

I noticed that Princess Stephanie made a face to Princess Grace in one of the pictures too. I agree that Stephanie was probably nervous. Overall, the pictures are great!

I got so excited and happy to see the pictures!:flowers:

Is this the marriage Grace and Rainier were not very happy about?

Yes, This is the marriage Grace and Rainier were not happy about, Helen88. Grace and Rainier didn't like Philippe very much.

Although, Grace wanted Caroline to marry Prince Ernst August (her current husband) or Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg but Caroline said no and wanted to marry Philippe.

Really, Grace wanted her to marry the man who is now her husband now or soon to be x husband should I say!!!!!!! What a small world

Caroline's outfit was beautiful. I love her hat. Though, her wedding gown was awful!

How sad everybody looked including the bride and groom:ermm:

Her civil outfit is one of my favorites. Her bridal gown WAS awful! It made her look chubby, imo.

Look at Grace's eyes...she had obviously been crying. She knew her beloved daughter was headed for heartache and there was nothing she could do about it.
Caroline was so stunningly gorgeous as a young woman.

What reason was given for the annulment?

Such a sad wedding. 🥲
I don’t want to spread gossip but I read somewhere that it was Grace who made Caroline to marry Junot. Supposedly Grace was religious and she wanted them married because they were lovers so they would not live in sin. It was also Grace, supposedly, who supported annulment years later. She supposedly said something like “ religion should bring us joy not make us suffer “ when talking about annulment.
I can’t remember if I read it years ago on this forum or somewhere else.🧐

Caroline didn't need much pushing from her mother to marry Junot. Caroline was crazy infatuated with him and very headstrong.

Of course Grace didn't want her gorgeous daughter living with a much older man she wasn't married to. It was 1978, the swinging 70's...but "shacking up" outside of marriage wasn't as common in the Gotha then as it is now.

The wedding only seems "sad" now because we have the benefit of hindsight. We can see what a disaster it was. But if Caroline and Philippe had lived a happy long marriage and were now surrounded by their children and grandchildren, everyone would say it was one of Royalty's most romantic love stories.

I've always believed that Princess Grace was against the wedding and it was her wish to see Caroline marry into the European Royalty or Nobility!

Was Philippe Junot suppose to be given a princely title?

No No No pages and pages were written at that time . he was NOT his descendent.
