On 14 March 1919 Prince Sixtus of Bourbon-Parma, one of the 24 children of duke Robert II of Parma, by his 2nd wife princess Maria Antonia of Portugal, married Duchess Hedwige de la Rochefoucauld in Paris. Hedwige was the daughter of the duke of Doudeauville and princess Louise Radziwill.

The name of Princess Hedwige's father Duke of Doudeauville is Armand de La Rochefoucauld.

I saw this thread and for a second thought that modern-day Prince Sixtus had suddenly married. That would have been a surprise!

kalnel, Are you referring to Prince Sixtus Henri of Bourbon-Parma, the son of Prince Xavier of Bourbon-Parma?

Yes, the brother of Carlos-Hugo. I thought for a second this thread referred to him.

:previous: The marriage was not recognized as dynastic by Duke Elias I who likewise declared Prince Xavier's marriage non-dynastic, apparently because the two had claimed part of their father's inheritance (rightly so)?

Elias' son, Duke Robert II Hugo, decided for reconciliation with his uncles and declared the marriages of Xavier and Sixtus dynastic in 1959. Sixtus had already died in 1959, so Robert II Hugo recognized Hedwige as Princess of Bourbon-Parma with the title of Royal Highness, thus giving posthumous dynastic value to the marriage of his uncle Sixtus.

However, although Elias I did not recognize the marriage at the time, Hedwige still used the title Princess of Bourbon-Parma.
