Happy New Year

2007 has been an interesting year, both for us and for the royals. The TRF moderating team have changed, and adapted to the growth of the forums, and we've added more main forums as well as more sub-forums, to ensure that people will have more space to discuss their favourite royals.

For the royals, it has been one event after another. Precisely as it should be. This newsletter deals with what has happened during 2007, with links to the event-threads, so you can go and have a look, and add your voice to the discussion if you missed it the first time around. It is difficult, at a forum this size, to be absolutely sure that you've included everything… but we've most certainly made an attempt to cover a lot of it.

As for what will happen in 2008: there is a wedding in Denmark on May 24th to look forward to, a baby in Belgium that is waiting to be born… and speculations in the Swedish forum run rampant as to whether or not the Swedes will finally get to host a royal wedding in 2008… actually, there is no stop to the royal related events and we hope to see you participating in the discussion of events in 2008, as you did in 2007.

We hope you, and yours, have a good 2008.

Happy New Year,
Avalon, Zonk and Norwegianne

The article editors are compiling a library of photos to use as illustrations for the articles. Since we are restricted to using photos for which we can get permission, our access to professional photos is severely limited. If any members have photos of royals which they took themselves and would like to add them to the article photo library, please contact Avalon.

As we did last year, we've also asked the moderators and admins what they will remember from 2007.

Avalon: "Diamond Wedding Anniversary of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. Although I'd prefer more 'grand' celebrations, the event was still very special for me. Those 2 people have spent the lifetime together, always by each others' side. I thought the Thanksgiving service was very moving, and of course, the recreation of their engagement photograph, with precisely the same face expression and even outfits, was just too lovely.
The following meating of the Commonwealth heads of the States was quite special too, especially with the Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall dazzling in their jewels."

dazzling: "Presentation & Baptism of Infanta Sofia - Simply because Leonor was stealing the spotlight and parents seemed like loosing control but didnt want to make a big deal of it & at the baptism, Leonor was again in the spotlight and Letizia wanting her to behave :winkiss:"

GlitteringTiaras:"Babies and more babies. :alien::D The year was filled with nothing but baby news."

Her_Majesty: " My favorite event of the year were the 70th Birthday celebrations of HM King Harald V of Norway!
My favorite scene of the Birthday was when King Harald and Queen Sonja entered the Ballroom hand in hand - the Queen bowed to the King- and the were swinging around the ballroom.
http://www.aftenposten.no/webtv/?id=2906&category_id=5
Wonderful!"

LadyK: "The Danish Babywatch. Everyone together on TRF waiting for the news that Mary had given birth. My other favorite was Infanta Sofia's presentation when Leonor stole the microphone covers!"

Marengo: "for me the 40th birthday of the Prince of Orange was probably the most memorable event of the year. The week around his birthday there were a lot of positive articles in newspapers about the prince being ´ready´ for the throne, and there was an interesting interview with the Prince, showing private moments with his family. It struck me how the tone of the media and public has changed in comparison to his 30th birthday when he was still regarded as ´Prince Pils´. The celebrations of the birthday in September was nice to watch too, though frustrating for me as I am fond of tiara´s while the Dutch Royal Family is not."
