King Juan Carlos gives the Order of the Golden Fleece to French President Nicolas Sarkozy on January 16 at the Royal Palace. The order is a recognition to the French state and President for the cooperation in the fight against ETA.
This is the first time since 1931 that the president of a republic receives the "Golden Fleece", and that the act is celebrated solemnly in the Royal
Palace of Madrid.
The event will start at 13.00, with a meeting at the Official Chamber, where Alfonso XIII appointed his knights. The act of imposing the order will be held in the Hall of Columns where there will be speeches by King Juan Carlos and Sarkozy. At the end of the event will be a lunch.
