Principality since 1608. Until the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, the princes of Liechtenstein were buried in the Liechtenstein family crypt in Vranov (Czech Republic) which is located under the crypt of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and belongs to the Paulaner Monastery in Vranov. 14 ruling princes of the House of Liechtenstein and 48 other members of the royal family are buried here.
Later a new family cemetery was built on the territory of Liechtenstein, in a crypt in the Vaduz Cathedral.
