Possible names, godparents and duchy of their second child

I think you are refering to King Carl XIII (reigned 1809-§8§8), He was married to Hedvig Elisabeth Charlotta of Holstein Gottorp.

Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1908-1972) - King Carl XVI Gustaf's Mother

I have not seen this thread before or I would have contributed before. I have actually met Princess Sibylla the year before she passed away. You could clearly see that she was unwell but at the time there had been no official announcement that she was ill. She was a very nice lady, polite and...

Prince Carl Philip & Princess Sofia's Current Events Part 1: June 2015 - January 2019

Sofia probably takes pride in being disrespectfull to the highest Royal order of Sweden by inventing her own rules for wearing the order. I do hope that some one at the court give her a dressing down and a lesson in the correct way of wearing the order.

Press Reports about Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist, Part 2: April 2012 - June 2014

Before 1979 Sweden had strictly agnatic succession line, male only. CGs sisters have never been in the succession as they are all born before 1979. The Constitution were changed in 1979 and became cognatic, the first born child to the King, regardless of gender, is the heir to the thron...

Wedding Tiara of Princess Madeleine of Sweden

I voted for the Cameo tiara and I hope she will follow the tradition started by Princess Birgitta. I think the Cameo will be an equivalent the Kediv of Egypt tiara in Denmark (now owned by Queen Anna Maria of Greece), only Princesses in their own right may wear it.

Press Reports about Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist, Part 2: April 2012 - June 2014

It is not for Carl Philip to decide how long the wait will be. It is the King's decision if and when he will submit a request to goverment for approval of the match.

    Madeleine & Chris's Wedding: Suggestions & Musings

I doubt that Sofia Hellqvist will ever be allowed to wear the Cameo tiara, neither at her wedding to Carl Philip (if there is a wedding at all) nor at any other event. Even if she is created a princess, she will never be "royal" enough to wear anything above the Laurelwreth tiara from Prince...

Press Reports about Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist, Part 2: April 2012 - June 2014

I have a bad feeling about Prince Carl Philip marrying Sofia Hellqvist. I have had the non-pleasure of meeting her and I am not at all convinced she is sincere about her involvment in PP. She seemed more interested in promoting herself as future member of the Swedish Royal Family. She...

    Hey!

It's the first name of the heroine in a French novel I read in my romantic youth. But it's also part of the last name of the man in my life so it seemed a natural choise to me.:flowers:

    Hey!

Sorry for the misspelling of intriguing, finger trouble.... I admitt, I was curious how you came up with that particular name but now I understand perfectly. Congrats to your creativity! You are probably right, it's Scandinavian humour.

    Queen Desideria (1777-1860)

The title Countess of Gotland was her official alias when she wished to remain incognito. She carried a passport signed by the Swedish King Carl XIII when she went back to France after her short visit to Sweden 1810-11. In Paris she used her official title Crown Princess later Queen of Sweden...

    Crown Princess Victoria Wedding Tiara

The Laurel Wreath tiara belongs to Prince Bertil's estate. According to his will, Princess Lilian has "untouched" estate and except for the bequests to Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine. the estate will be divided upon the death of Princess Lilian. As the tiara was the personal property of...

Pre-Wedding Information for Victoria and Daniel's Wedding

You are quite right, Mette Marit was not escorted by her father although that is the custom in Norway. I think this had more to do with Mette Marit's troubled relation to her father and his unfortunate babble to the press, in particular Se & Hør (See & Hear) a notorious gossip magazine in Norway.

Pre-Wedding Information for Victoria and Daniel's Wedding

During the catholic periode, Sweden had the bride give away tradition and this tradition did change slowly after the reformation. But it is mostly due to changes in the Law of Marrige when Sweden introduced the Ban of Forced Marriage some during 17th century naivly thinking that would change...

Diana's Legacy: What is left or what will be left?

I am frankly surprised that anyone think Princess Diana did anything that changed the world significantly. To compare her to the likes of Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosewelt and Marie Curie is an insult to them and all the other women who really had/have an impact on the development of the world...
