"Daughter of Empire: Life as a Mountbatten" by Pamela Hicks (2012)

I am greatly enjoying this book too. I must say that Pamela Hicks has a wonderfully forgiving attitude towards her mother who wasn't exactly maternal! However, she was interesting, glamorous and her achievements during the war were admirable - that must have made up for a lot!

Books on Current and Recent British Royals

I didn't about Prince William. I must try to find this book. He seems to have been an intrepid, adventurous character!

Catherine Middleton Wedding Dress Suggestions and Musings

Wedding Dress I also love that dress, Zonk. It also reminds me of the dress in Gigi! It has been suggested that Catherine may wear a dress that's 'edgy', but I hope that it's modest. I am sure that she won't wear a strapless one. I hate strapless wedding dresses!

Wedding of William & Catherine: TRF Give-away: The Royal Wedding UK Silver Proof Coin

William and Kate are a beautiful young couple and I agree with the Archbishop of Canterbury that they are 'deeply unpretentious'. William showed great compassion in Australia. I am also looking forward to Catherine becoming Queen - we share a common ancestor! I wish them a blissful and long...

    Romanovs and Russian History

Lenin, Romanov books I agree that Lenin has to be buried but whether he is resting in peace or should be resting in peace is another matter! What do people think about 'The Fate of the Romanovs'? It looks a bit gruesome.

Royal History of France and French Royalty

Hi Elisa, Thank you for telling us about this book. Will it be published in English?

    Historical Royal Affairs and Mistresses

I liked this book at the time but after Ms. Gregory defamed Anne Boleyn I have no time for her, I'm afraid. Her books are just not historically accurate.

Romanov Rescue 1917-1919: Action and Inaction

Prince and Princess Andrew of Greece I didn't know that, Empress Rouge. Thank you.

How many Royal books do you own?

I am amazed by all of the books some people have! I probably only have about 15 royal books, but the library is growing!

Mathilde Kschessinska (1872-1972) Ballerina and Courtesan

It was very strange that Mathilde kept the two Dukes on a string! What do people think about her being accused of arms smuggling?

Thank you very much, ChatNoir. I am probably too late!

Grand Duchesses Xenia (1875-1960) and Olga (1882-1960), sisters of Nicholas II

Hello Anastasia, Thank you very much. I hope that these are definitely paintings of GD Olga's. I may even buy one one day!

Grand Duchesses Xenia (1875-1960) and Olga (1882-1960), sisters of Nicholas II

Beautiful! Thank you, ChatNoir. I did find a site by one of her daughters-in-law with paintings but I can't find it now.

Aristocrats - books on, or by

I love to read about high society - pretty well anywhere! I found a Vanderbilt genealogy blog the other day. I must put it in the links section.

How many Royal books do you own?

I've bought a few books on 'Sisi' lately - one by Bridget Hamman and the other by Bertita Harding. I haven't counted my royal books yet! I hope to count them this week.

Grand Duchesses Xenia (1875-1960) and Olga (1882-1960), sisters of Nicholas II

I'd like to know if any of her paintings still exist. I've seen them advertised but it's hard to know who are the reputable dealers on the Internet.

    Bulgarian Royal Family

I think that I'll have to wait until the Aussie dollar goes up again to buy this one, unfortunately!

Four Queens - The Provencal Sisters Who Ruled Europe

I have bought it too. I'm in the same position, Melania. My problem is that I am going away and I won't be back until November. I can't take it with me because it's hardback and too heavy.

    Bulgarian Royal Family

The book sounds very interesting. I don't know much about Bulgarian royalty so I'd like to read it.

September 2008 Mary: Crown Princess of Denmark

I preferred the book about Mary's style. The photos were better in that book. Parts of this book were interesting but some of it annoyed me!

September 2008 Mary: Crown Princess of Denmark

I think that Princess Mary did have an easier time than some of the other princesses. Mette-Marit still seems to be judged because of her wild past. This is a different topic, but I disagreed with the authors that Australians have more in common with Danes than with other Europeans and...

Royalty (Fictional and Real) In Fictional Movies

I also liked movies. I did feel that there wasn't that much of a story in the second one - I didn't like the fact that it ended before the trial. The costumes were stunning and I agree that it was very contemporary and a good film for teenagers. When I went to see this, a mother and her...
