    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Daytime Fashion Part 7: June 2013 - May 2015

WOW, what is wrong with her??? Even I make a better effort and I work in an office cubicle all day where few people see me. Is this some kind of passive-aggressive lashing out for having to do these public appearances?

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Daytime Fashion Part 7: June 2013 - May 2015

I agree. She married not just a man, she married a high-profile job. She probably really doesn't care about fashion, but Hello! it is part of the job! Since they can't fire her, I am not sure what can be done to shape her up. Her lack of refinement and care will definitely be a problem when...

    Crown Princess Mary's Daytime Fashion Part 23: August 2014 - January 2015

Yes, she is a perfect example that you can look stylish while dressing in almost all black (with dark hair to boot!), while for some reason when Mette-Marit does it she looks like a Sicilian widow, despite her bleached hair. I think the big difference is that Mary really gives thought to her...

    Summer photo sessions 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013

Nice, relaxing atmosphere, looking truly like the lazy hazy days of summer vacation. Though the puppies are adorable, I too thought it was somewhat irresponsible not to get their dog fixed. Or was the breeding intentional?

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Eveningwear Part 4: December 2011 - April 2013

I just want to know: Who is her boss and why is she not reprimanded for dressing too horribly beyond words, so frequently no less? Does no one in the royal family ever say anything? You know, something like: doing these public engagements is a job and with any job, especially a high-profile one...

Haakon and Mette-Marit picture thread: part 2

Fortimo, thanks! What a nice trip down memory lane.

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Daytime Fashion Part 5: August 2011 - August 2012

Her hair is so yellow and those roots are now quite visible. Very unattractive.

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Eveningwear Part 4: December 2011 - April 2013

The woman next to her looks much better put together. The blue dress looks like a nightgown and the strappy shoes look all wrong with those thick stockings.

    Mette-Marit goes back to school

I think what norwegianne was eluding to is the fact that prior to her marriage she started several higher education programs and always dropped out. Considering that she is financially wealthy and has job security for life only because of marriage and not merit, Norwegian girls are best advised...

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit Current Events Part 2: November 2008 - January 2013

I agree. I also wish she would stop bleaching her hair to the point of blinding people. What is the point of that when everyone KNOWS she is not a real blond because so frequently her dark roots are showing? I liked her much better with darker and shorter hair.

    Mette-Marit goes back to school

I think the "Hello" article went a little overboard with their praise. Gee, how does she do it, going to school with three children and royal duties? Well, nannies, cooks, and cleaning ladies sure help. Not to mention having someone who does the laundry, shopping and organizing for you. And to...

Haakon and Mette-Marit Current Events: April 2007 - January 2013

Good for you, kathl29! Congratulations on completing your studies! I did not mean to be harsh, I just wanted to point out, after reading sofajr's comments about intense studying interferring with Easter celebrations, that this was of her own doing and there is no need to pity her for missing...

Haakon and Mette-Marit Current Events: April 2007 - January 2013

She should have studied when she was in school, instead of partying and getting pregnant out of wedlock.

Norwegian Royal Family Current Events 2: December 2006 - April 2018

Not to minimize the purpose of the visit, but Queen Sonja looks amazing.

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Daytime Fashion Part 4: August 2010 - August 2011

I just don't like the ruffles, it makes her look heavier than she really is. As for the hair clip, "down-to-earth" is okay when she is at home but not on official princess duty. I am sure there are plenty elegant and much more adult-like hair accessories available in Norway.

It looks cozy and warm, almost romantic.

Quite right. And how can William possibly become prepared when he is mostly on vacation?

Crown Princess Maxima's Daytime Fashion Part 3: July - December 2009

I like the vibrant color on her, it goes great with her vibrant smile. I did not care for the style of the suit, though, it look a little cheaply done. It's nice when her hair does not fly all over though wearing it down usually makes her more youthful looking. As always, I am shocked at how bad...

    Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Daytime Fashion Part 2: March 2009 - November 28, 2009

At first glance the suit looks very chic and with her hair pulled back she looks really sophisticated (at least from the front). But alas, a closer look reveals that the suit is too small for her current weight and I am not a fan of the funky braids, it looks a little school-girlish. Although...

Monarchies & Republics: Future and Benefits

You are right, Lilla, I am not. Born German -long after the Kaiser's dismissal- and currently residing in the US, my interest in monarchs are the usual: fashion, jewels and grand balls. Okay, gossip as well. I do tend to equate them with ordinary celebrities, particularly if they behave like...

Monarchies & Republics: Future and Benefits

Good points were made in the previous posts, but I have to stick to my opinion. It is true that in a democracy there are families resembling royalty-like structures (Bush, kennedy etc), however their sons and daughters will still have to go through the election processes for various political...

Monarchies & Republics: Future and Benefits

That is exactly why I have to object to a monarchy, the fact that it is hereditary. Seems undemocratic. Why should someone be a monarch only because they are born in that family? Especially in situations when it seems obvious that there are much better qualified people for the job available?

The Most Or Least Prepared Heir

I don't know how prepared they are but Frederik - reminds me of a little boy whose royal duties interfere with his playtime too much Haakon - seems to take his duties quite seriously and appears most dignified Charles - has been waiting for the crown for soooo long, when he finally gets...

    True Love Marriages

Good question. Maxima: No. I think as a wealthy latina she would consider mingeling with ordinary tradesmen beneath her. Mary: No. she seemed to have much higher aspirations. Mette-Marit: Yes. It frequently appears that she would prefer it if Haakon actually was a plumber. Marie: No...

    True Love Marriages

Considering he is the heir to the throne, I am sure he did not lack comfort on his expeditions nor was exposed to any "serious" threats or difficulties. And he does tend to be weepy. But I stand to my response to the poster who did not buy into the fact that there is true love here, that I...
