Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

There have been cases where a grandparent was named as a godparent, so it isn't out of the question. I know George VI was a godfather of the Prince of Wales.

Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

I'm not expecting many, if any, of the continental royals to be chosen as godparents for Baby Boy Cambridge, except for the Greek royals. I think we're going to see: Crown Prince Pavlos Pippa Middleton Countess of Wessex Hugh Van Cutsem and possibly two others I'd love to see Sophie get...

Here are a few pictures of the family as they left St. Mary's. No new information, just pretty pictures of a lovely couple and their son.

It can take a few weeks for the uterus to contract back to its normal size. My SIL still had a big belly after her baby (which was 8 lbs. 6 oz., too). My mom and I both wore home our regular clothes after we gave birth, but I was only 5 lbs., and my son was 7 lbs. 3 oz. Catherine had a big baby...

"We're still working on a name." -- The Duke of Cambridge. Come on, William! Philip is the way to go!

I know she can't wait to get home and put up her feet! They are such an adorable little family! EDIT: Some women's bellies don't go down right away. Cut her some slack; it's been, like, a day since that 8lb. 6oz. bundle was inside of her!

I'm sure a few moments of flashbulbs and cheering won't scar the little guy for life. He will have to get used to it; he's no ordinary baby. And some people believe that exposure to lots of different sounds is beneficial when it comes to teaching the baby to self-soothe and stay asleep.

C&C just left, so the Cambridges could still be leaving soon.

I think they are leaving tonight. I thought I heard one of the reporters on site mention 6 or 7 pm BST. It's possible that they want to let other families get sorted out before they do their thing. I've been watching the live stream, and there have been a few couples leaving with their new babies.

I don't think offering good wishes to a couple on the birth of their son and doing so without qualifying the statement (i.e. great news, nothing to do with me, though!) is necessarily "over-the-top" or expecting a "fairytale princess." Stating that she is unconnected to this child's birth is not...

Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

You might be talking about Edward VII, but most people's minds are going to go to the more immediate Edward, the Earl of Wessex. :flowers:

Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

I actually like Edward as a first name, but I don't get the impression that William and his uncle are close enough that he would name his firstborn after the Earl of Wessex. I think Henry, Harry and William being so close, is a greater possibility than Edward. Plus, I don't think William will...

I didn't think it was strange to wait until today, either. The couple may have wanted to have some family time before having guests. I'm sure that mother and daughter have been on the phone with each other regularly since the baby's birth. Catherine and Carole appear to be very close, and this...

Such sweet smiles from them and how nice to offer a few words to the waiting press. They, especially Carole, seem besotted with their new little grandson. I can't wait to catch that first glimpse!

I still believe that if they choose a name which has never been used by a monarch that it will be Philip. It will be new in that there has been no king with it (at least, not a Winsdor or Saxe-Coburg-Gotha king), and how could HM say no to honoring her consort? I think it will be easier to "get...

I agree, but The Princess Royal is one of those people who gets away with that type of thing because she's been doing it for so long, though. I doubt anyone'll bat an eye at that comment because it's just so "Anne."

Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

I don't think they will use Spencer as a name, though I agree, it would be kind of 'cool' if they did. I just don't think it's the done thing in Britain, and I think Catherine has more of an emotional investment in the baby prince's name than William. I think he'll be fine with whatever she...

The Birth of HRH Prince George of Cambridge: July 22, 2013

Someone upthread mentioned that the reports of the hairdresser coming to the hospital were false. I don't think the fact that the Middletons are there necessarily indicates the new family will or will not be staying with them. They probably just couldn't wait another minute to see that baby! I...

I agree. And it isn't fair to place the expectations of Diana's memory onto William or his new little family.

Baby Cambridge: Potential Names and Godparents

I don't really feel it was necessary for the Prince of Wales to have mentioned Diana's name in his statement. He isn't married to her now, and wasn't at the time of her death. I doubt Diana figures into his daily life, so why would he? If William glances on the subject, it would be more...

Rosa Monckton Article - Ugghhh! This was... an unfortunate read. I was actually fine with the content until that last line. Until then, it was the fond recollections of a friend, tinged with some sadness about what would never be. Okay, fine. Then, we move on to examples of Diana's love in...

Relationships of Prince Charles and His Parents

I was rewatching Prince Charles' Tribute to his mother on YT and I am struck by the warmth he seems to feel for his parents, but especially his mother. He even seemed a bit surprised, as if he hadn't remembered the time before she was queen. I think HM was like so many parents of her time and...
