    Crown Prince Couple's Prize 2005-2012, 2014-2024

One more thing - the girl with the curly red hair in the lace dress, who is she and what did she do that she got the prize? She's very cute, and certainly thrilled to get the award. It looks as though it started off as a handshake and ended in a big hug

    Crown Prince Couple's Prize 2005-2012, 2014-2024

Thank you, Danish members, for the pictures and translations. And yes, I thought the comedian's routine was very funny. The gallery from facebook was especially good. Nice to see F&M so relaxed and happy. :flowers:

Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall at that gathering?

Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary's Visit to Canada: September 17-19, 2014

Is it my imagination, or has this trip been more 'low-key' than usual? Frederik looks tired, and Mary is dressed in somber colors. These trips must be very tiring, so I hope they got some rest over the weekend. They'll surely be glad to get home to Denmark after a day in New York.

Danish Royal Family, Current Events Part 4: June 2012 - May 2016

Marie and Mary look nice, but I agree that the Queen looks fabulous. Prince Henrik - wow! He is in a class by himself :notworthy:

Crown Prince Frederik, Current Events Part 4: May 2013 - November 2014

:previous: I remember reading somewhere that in the old days of the Viking raids, they kidnapped the most beautiful women and brought them back to improve the gene pool. It worked.

Flag Day Commemorating Foreign Conflict Since 1948: September 5th (2009, 2012-2024)

:previous: That is a beautiful song, and the a cappella group that sings it is outstanding. I'm not even Danish, and I can feel the emotion in the piece. I'm going to search my sources and see if I can find a keyboard arrangement. Music is the universal language. :flowers:

Flag Day Commemorating Foreign Conflict Since 1948: September 5th (2009, 2012-2024)

A question for the Danish members: on the memorial are the words EN TID ET STED ET MENNESKE. What do they mean? On other pictures, I have seen walls with writing on them, possibly names. Is this something like the Vietnam memorial wall in Washington, DC?

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family Part 13: July 2014 - September 2015

"Veteran Danish royal reporter Trine Villemann even wrote a book which provided a harsh critique of Mary's performance.:whistling: Titled 1015 Copenhagen K, she went on Nine's A Current Affair in 2012 to flog the English version, telling Tracy Grimshaw: "Being a crown princess means...

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family Part 13: July 2014 - September 2015

:previous: Mary looks very nice - Frederik looks tired. Probably just got back from the US and then had to go to Ireland. Actually, I like the vest. My son has a similar one that he wears to church on Christmas Eve.

"Zadok The Priest" at British Royal Weddings?

When it comes to this "Prince of Denmark" ("Trumpet the voluntary") march I say, well, it´s just a march. A march is much more neutral than an anointing hymn, isn´t it? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Agreed. The appropriateness (or lack thereof)...

"Zadok The Priest" at British Royal Weddings?

A random thought: if 'The Prince of Denmark's March' was a nod to the Danish ancestry of the Charles' father, 'Zadok' could be taken as recognition of Frederik's ancestor, Queen Victoria. Mary has ties to Scotland and Australia, so there is an English connection for her, too.

"Zadok The Priest" at British Royal Weddings?

I agree The Prince of Denmark's March would have been a better choice for Mary but it was composed by an Englishman, Jeremiah Clarke and the "Prince of Denmark" in this case was Prince George, husband to Queen Anne of Britain so it too has strong connections to the BRF. The 'Prince of...

"Zadok The Priest" at British Royal Weddings?

------------------------------------ That phrase is contained in ''I Was Glad'' by Charles Hubert Parry. It was used as the processional for the wedding of William and Catherine, but the 'Vivats' were omitted. It's a beautiful piece of music. I wonder how they'll handle it at Charles' coronation.

"Zadok The Priest" at British Royal Weddings?

I just watched the YouTube video again - twice. Not an unpleasant task. I heard the word 'King' not 'Queen.' It is an unusual choice, but with all the Alleluias, and the Amen, it worked. Besides, I don't think QMII would have allowed such a change. Just my opinion.

Danish Royal Family, Current Events Part 4: June 2012 - May 2016

So now a successor will have to be named. Is this a position that could be held by a woman? Has it ever been? Denmark seems to be a very egalitarian country - I see women in footmen's uniforms, etc.

Frederik, Mary and Children on Magazine Covers

A few years ago, when F&M were on a trip (South Korea, I think) an article appeared with almost the same wording...''he put his arm around her protectively, they seemed as though they shared a secret'' etc. I don't have time to look it up right now. It was either on this forum, or maybe the...

Crown Princely Family Visit to Greenland: August 1-8, 2014

In the last picture where the children are coloring, it looks as though the twins are left-handed. Are either one of the parents? Oops, just looked at the photo again - Josephine has something in her right hand, it's Vincent that seems to be a 'leftie.'

Thank you to all who posted links for pictures, etc. The twins did amazingly well, and the whole family looked wonderful. Crown Princely Family Visit to Greenland: August 1-8, 2014

How did Frederik come to have this great love for Greenland? I have read about the Sirius expedition, but it seems to be deeper than that. Did he spend a lot of time there in his younger years? Maybe it's just an ''at home'' feeling that we sometimes experience. And about that reindeer he...

Crown Princely Family Visit to Greenland: August 1-8, 2014

Thanks to everyone who took the time to post the links and photos. Cuteness overload indeed! Although the twins seemed a little overwhelmed at times (especially Vincent) there have been no public meltdowns. Good planning and good parenting on M&F's part. :flowers:
