    Royal Family Orders

The highest Norwegian Order is The St Olav Order. As for the RFO, it is only in Great Britain it's called a Royal Family Order. It is also the only one where the color of the ribbon changes with the Monarch. The others are called The Monarch's Portrait en Mineature, worn on ribbon of the highest...

Duchess of Cornwall Jewellery 6: January 2008-September 2011

Both the earrings and the neclace are too fancy for my taste. A simple string of diamonds and a pair of solitaires in her ears and the impression would have been perfect. The Boucheron Tiara does not need overdoing. Now she looks like a walk around Jewellery Shop.

    Crown Princess Victoria Wedding Tiara

I read somewhere that Prince Bertil's will left the double tier tiara to Prince Carl Philip after Princess Lillian's death. The will also stipulate that his and Lillan's home Villa Solbacken will go to CP.

Who is your favourite member of the Spanish Royal Family?

I could not agree more! He showed real Kingship in a situation that easlily could have thrown Spain back into dictatorship. :crown5:

    Queen Ingrid Jewellery

I am not quite sure if Desirée is visible in the picture or not but I will try to find out for you. I'll get back when I have checked a book about David's paintings. I would like to add that all Swedish royal brides after Ingrid, with the exception of Louise Mountbatten when she married Crown...

The Ruby Parure is actually French. The French Marshall Jean Baptiste Bernadotte (the future king Carl XIV Johan of Sweden) gave the parure to his wife Desirèe as wedding anniversary gift and she wore the parure to Napoleon's coronation in 1804.

The pair is Silvia's brother Ralf Sommerlath and his wife. I think her name is Simone.

    Queen Silvia Jewellery 2: September 2005-December 2015

I saw that article too but it actually the first time I have heard that the Braganca tiara is easy to wear. Both Queen Sophia and Queen Lovisa (in addition to Louise) complained it was very uncomfortable. I read this in a book but unfortunately I can't remember the title. I'll get back to you...

Diana's Legacy: What is left or what will be left?

I am not surprised at all. A teacher friend of mine here in Norway had the same experience. She have asked her students (senior high) to write a paper on persons (from 1900 to 1999) they thought had left a "foot-print" behind. She let them choose from a list of 12 names. She has done this...

The Swedish Serafimerorden was invested in 1748 by King Fredrik I. Jean Baptiste Bernadotte was elected crown prince in May 1810 and arrived in Sweden in October same year. He became King Carl XIV Johan in 1818. Nothing to do with the Bernadottes at all.

    Queen Silvia Jewellery 2: September 2005-December 2015

The Braganca Diamond Tiara belonged to Empress Amalie of Brazil. When she died, her sole surviving sister was Queen Josephine of Sweden and she left all of her belongings to her. This included not only juwellery but also an impressive collection of silver known as the Brazilian silverware and...

The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer: 29 July 1981

I strongly disagree! Diana's weddingdress was a disaster, probably the worst weddingdress in history. Crinkled, overdone, overdecorated:sad:....A complete designer disaster, I would have sued the Emanuels.

King Carl Gustaf of Sweden and Silvia Sommerlath: June 19, 1976

Silvia's weddingdress is a masterpiece of style, classicism and haute couture like the one Margerethe of Denmark wore. My personal favorite is Mette-Marit's, classic and stylish. I am aware that you prefer the "wedding cake" style of Diana, Grace and Mary. Well, Chacun son goût

Prince Rainier & Grace Kelly: 19 April 1956

The royal houses did not go the wedding because the Monaco Princely family were not considered having the same royal status, not because Grace Kelly was an actress.

The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer: 29 July 1981

The wedding as such was lovely but I strongly disagree about the weddingdress. It one of the worst royal weddingsdresses ever. Diana looks like an overdone miserably failed weddingcake. In addition to the lack of style and moderation, the designers (or Diana herself) choose a silk that required...
