General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 7: October 2010 - March 2011

He uses that word (kone) a lot. I don't care for it. It sounds like Mary is 60 years old sporting a slight moustache. I find the word "hustru" much more dignified in general, and especially when it comes to royalty. Kone = Venus of Willendorf Hustru = Venus de Milo - IMO.

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 7: October 2010 - March 2011

Hmm... Not sure. Though M & F's schedule does indicate that they have to leave it to nannies on a day-to-day basis. Another consideration pointing towards nannies being trusted with that task is security. It's never wise to be too predictable in your daily life - in case someone is gunning for...

General News about Joachim, Marie and Family 2: August 2009 - January 2011

This may be my fault. The danish wording was "klø" - which means physical punishment of some sort - sometimes in the extreme. I chose beating. Again - this is my chosen translation. In danish she says "sang- og julelege", litterally meaning "song- and christmas games". Had she said "spil"...

General News about Joachim, Marie and Family 2: August 2009 - January 2011

I'll give it a go (grabbed it from Prins Joachim: Mit og Kronprinsens forhold er rigtig godt | Starlounge 31-10-2010). Sorry for any misunderstandings in spelling and translation. I know it's not the BT article, but it touches on the same subject.

    Danish Royal Family Christmas: 2003, 2004, 2006-2014, 2016-2023

No. Since tradition have been broken - so far only once - it makes more sense to go to the kids' usual home. Once (if) traditon is resumed, the two junior families will meet on common ground (Marseilisborg) at their parents', rather than meeting on either familys home turf. Traditionally, all...

    Danish Royal Family Christmas: 2003, 2004, 2006-2014, 2016-2023

I doubt that QM and the prince will (ever) be celebrating christmas in Copenhagen. It's tradition that they move out of the city for such events, usually to Marselisborg in Århus. I could imagine that M&F are staying in Copenhagen due to the pregnancy - and it would be more of a bother for M&J...

CP Mary as Patron of The Christmas Seal Foundation (Julemærkefonden): 2005 - 2023

I think it's somewhat of an anachronism. The main reason - today - is to garner some attention towards sending christmas greetings, accumulating more profit for the postal service, more than a logistical issue. There are so many planes etc. going around the world, that it's hardly an issue...

    Princess Marie's Lady-in-Waiting

Yeah, but where is that, other than Schackenborg and/or Copenhagen?

    Princess Marie's Lady-in-Waiting

Not sure what you mean by "Marie's place", but Aarhus-Copenhagen is 2½-3½ hours from Århus (depending on whether you drive all the way, take a train or the ferry (by plane it's much quicker of course).

What car are you driving? That's a two-hour trip MAX! Anyway, thanks for the story.

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 6: July - October 2010

He used to be known as the unknown billionaire here in Denmark. Noone really knew who he was and he kept very much out of the limelight. He used to (and still does AFAIK) arrange parties for the nations elite - often involving - or revolving around - the royal family. For a decade or more...

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 6: July - October 2010

I think the main problem with these magazines, are their locust-like behaviour. They'll do anything to discredit the DRF (any RF or person in fact) through scandal-like stories, so as to sell more magazines, eroding whatever credit/myth/magic that surrounds the DRF. This eventually discredits...

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 6: July - October 2010

But it's also a two-edged sword. If the Internet did not exist when they met, Danish journalists would be very hard pressed to dig up dirt on a person (Mary). They wouldn't even know where to begin. What's Hobart? Where did she go to school? Who was principal for that school in 1984? How do we...

General News about Frederik, Mary and Family 6: July - October 2010

Well said. Too often, tabloids etc. post a picture of a person (usually someone of status and importance) in a split-second situation, like blinking, and they suggest that someone is sleeping or is extremely bored. This is a yearly occurence in Denmark at the opening of parliament. But earlier...

Mary and Frederik's Circle of Friends (Danish and Australian)

Re: BFF etc. I'm pretty sure Mary and Amber are honest friends that remain as loyal to one another, as one can, when being on either side of the planet. I don't doubt, that Amber has her own life to live, and as such can't spend every waking moment wondering what Mary would think of this and...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

It seems that Christian is below his mother in the ranking, just like Frederik is below his father, with the Monarch being on top, no matter the status of his/her parents.

    The Danish Order of Precendence

:lol:Giggle - what an age we live in. You have no way of knowing this, so maybe it's not fair to laugh. The list is taken from the Court and State Calendar, which is not a web-document. Rather it's printed annually. Just goes to show how dependent and reliant we've already become on this...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

Unlikely. There's a line of succession, and I can't imagine we'd suddenly change that, just because of a few years of not having a king - if at all. In this scenario, Margrethe would have to die also - and even then, I can't imagine that Christian would be dumped way down the list. Agree...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

Supposing the monarchy lives on (I'd expect it to, but you never know), I could imagine Joachim getting another title, Prince-Regent or something in that respect. You see, the plot thickens if and when Mary should remarry. What would that persons role be? I would expect Joachim and Mary to run...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

I realize that. But if anything, the last few years have seen the socialists embracing the DRF in a way never seen before - their leader Villy Søvndal has made some comments in that regard. Politically, there is only one actively republican party - the communists (the unity list, I think you...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

Eh? The communists don't accept the concept. But since ML and HKN both respect court (and constitutional) protocol with their mere presence at the opening in those roles (vice-presidents), surely they accept the concept (whether they want to admit it is another thing). They may want to change it...

    The Danish Order of Precendence

I think the courtsy is pretty well rehersed and also well "founded". If you look at who does it, it's the non-royal women. The Queens sister didn't courtsy, nor does her sons bow deeply. It's not something Mary or Marie came up with on their own accord. More likely it's something (re)instated by...

Relationships between the Members of the Danish Royal Family

I think the problem with so-called negative expressions of opinion is that they come off simply as envy and/or maliciousness. Marie is said by someone to (quoted freely) "live a life in private luxury on other peoples expence". That comes off, not as a truth, but as sheer envy. One might feel...

General News about the Danish Royal Family 1: December 2008 - January 2013

Questionable satire on the DRF Trying to drum up attention regarding censorship (5-year anniversery of the Muhammed-Cartoon publication) and double standards, Danish "art-group" Surrend have published a poster depicting the DRF engaged in peverse sexual activities. (Here's a link - revolting...

Crown Prince Frederik, Current Events 2: October 2007 - September 2010

Technically, Henrik is the first person this "protocol" is used on. It's limited how much one instance can represent protocol. Besides, protocol can also be a type of sugar on the pill. Re: Commander-in-Chief, it's an office held by the monarch - in some republics it's held by the president...
