The Danish Royal Court announced on Monday that Prince Henrik has undergone surgery on his groin and pelvis, where balloon stents were placed in pulmonary arteries in the area which were blocked. The operation took place at Skejby Hospital in Aarhus. Prince Henrik is expected to be released on Wednesday. The Court had previously announced Thursday that he had been hospitalised for treatment on a leg infection.

79-year-old Queen Paola has broken her hip in a nasty fall at her home, Belvédère Castle, the Belgian Royal Court said in a statement released today. The RVD has confirmed that Princess Beatrix underwent knee replacement surgery today at the Franciscus/Vlietland Hospital in Schiedam. Orthopaedic surgeons Dr Marcel Driessen and Dr Stefan Breugem performed the surgery, which replaced the Princess’s right knee with a prostheses. She had a similar surgery performed on her left knee back in 2005. Princess Beatrix will remain in hospital for a few days, before undertaking rehabilitation at home.
