Former Qatari Emir Has Emergency Leg Surgery In Zurich

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the former Emir of Qatar, has had leg surgery after it was broken. The Sheikh arrived in Zurich for surgery and is currently undergoing physiotherapy treatment. Qatari Royals Attend UEFA Champions League Final

The father of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, attended the UEFA Champions League Final between Juventus Turin and FC Barcelona in Berlin, Germany. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad, Sheikh Joan bin Hamad and Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad also attended. FC Barcelona beat Juventus Turin 3-1. New Title For Qatar’s Ex-Ruler

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has issued a decree giving his father, Qatar’s ex-ruler, Sheikh Hamad, a title. The official Qatari news agency (QNA) said in a statement, “The decree set the official title of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as the Emir father.” Sheikh Hamad ruled Qatar for 18 years and abdicated on June 24, 2013 in favour of his son.

Qatar Has A New Emir

33-year-old Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad has become Qatar’s new Emir. Sheikh Tamim was handed power from his father, Sheikh Hamad, who ruled Qatar for eighteen years. The new Emir of Qatar gave a fifteen minute televised speech on regional and domestic issues. Sheikh Tamim said he will follow in his father’s footsteps.
