Princess Marie was accompanied by her husband, Prince Joachim, and their children to the Tonder Festival this afternoon. kongehuset.dk had announced that Princess Marie would be attending the event with no other royals mentioned. The royals were joined by family friends and their children. The Princess has been patron of the Tønder Festival since 2009. Tønder Festival is a folk music festival which takes place in August.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie took their two children, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena, to Aalborg Zoo today to help celebrate the zoo’s 80th anniversary. The family were accompanied by the director of the zoo, Henrik Vester Johansen, and the Mayor of Aalborg, Thomas Kastrup Larsen, for their visit, which included a show at the Zoofari Scene, where animals the zoo trains demonstrate their skills. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s son will start school in August 2015 it has been announced today. The Prince, who will turn 6 years old in May, will attend the Sct. Joseph Sisters School in Ordrup. Prince Henrik is Joachim’s 3rd child and Princess Marie’s first child. He was born on May 4, 2009.

A new painting of the Danish Royal Family was unveiled last week, ahead of its display at Amalienborg. Thomas Kluge, a Danish artist who has previously painted portraits of members of the family on numerous occasions, was the man commissioned to create the portrait. The Danish Royal Court has published the long-awaited photographs of Denmark’s newest royal – the infant daughter of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. The series of photographs, taken at Schackenborg Palace by Steen Brogaard, feature the little princess with her parents and older brothers, Princes Nikolai, Felix and Henrik. The infant was born on January 24th, and will be christened on May 20th.
