Flashback Friday: Princess Marina Presents Wimbledon Trophy
July 8, 1963: As President of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent presents Australia’s Margaret Smith (later Court) with the Wimbledon Women’s Singles Championship trophy following her defeat of American Billie Jean Moffitt (later King) in the final. Marina’s son, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, is the current President of the All England Club. This year’s women’s final will take place tomorrow.
